Thought I'd bump up my thread, there's really not much to report other than my fan picking a fight with my new fan shroud. :icon_mad:

Steve and I trimmed it down though and it's working great again. I've just been driving the car on the weekends and took it to Eau Claire this week, hopefully I can find some hilly roads around here. I have a "to-do" list on the car that I want to go through, but I need to find the time and tools to do it all, so for now it's just a running car. :icon_bigg

Maybe I'm bumping because I'm happy the car is working normally and for once there actually isn't much negative to report!

Also - MN guys. This August is the car's 20th birthday, what do you guys know about collector plates?

Don't do collector plates Emilio... unless you don't plan on driving much:( They limit your miles cause theys bastidges.

Don't do it if you drive your car. Most cops don't know the "rules" behind having them, but some do and they can nail you with tickets if they want to. And you know how ticket happy the entire state is right now.

Research it first. Cliff notes if IIRC = only can be driven if going to a car related show or parade, getting maintenance done, and 1K miles or less per year.

Over all it will draw unneeded attention to the car.

And here I don't know if I stand corrected or Correct. In talking to a few classic car owners.. there are restrictions.. but.. according to your link...I don't see any. No Clue Dude

"that the vehicle is owned and operated solely as a collector's item and not for general transportation purposes." My feelings, a supra will never be a "collector's" item.

Also like every law out there it is up to the officers discretion, if he feels you are using it as general transportation that day he can hand out a golden ticket.

It's funny how laws work - if I got collector plates for the Supra and actually did only use it as a collector's item, I probably would get attention from the fuzz. Now the parents' '68 Beetle we drove every day for weeks to the grocery store, restaurants, everything, and we'd *never* get harassed in that.

I was just hoping for the legal opportunity to not run front plates I guess :naughty:

Now that you guys have officially brought me back to earth, I guess it's time to get some valve stem seals...

Hey Emilio, great build! I had glanced at your thread a few times in the last year, but I never actually looked at it closely. This time I actually read it... all 21 pages of it and I must say that I am very impressed with your dedication and how you powered through all of the problems with the car. Its good to hear about another supra up and running in MN, since there are so many which are just being killed.... rusting out in someones backyard or being used as a lawn orniment.

Im still pretty young and will probably make a bunch of stupid mistakes, but hopefully I will be as successful as you (without as much trouble) with my car, and I cant wait to go to the next MN supra meet! :D It makes me really proud and happy to know that there is such a friendly Supra community in MN!

Thanks for the compliments! It's been a long road.

I think I've had more success in organizing and getting people together for meets than I have had actually working on my car. I think it would be fun to crash this July's MNSC meet with a healthy group of Supras (7 or more anyone?) It's really awesome though how many cool people I've met in the Supra community, all friendly and helpful!

The list of things to do just doesn't seem to shrink ever, I just have to keep her running until I graduate from college, then the real fun starts! :x:

When and where is July's MNSC meet?

You Minnesota folk should come down to Chi2k10 :)

Same question when is chicago this year? End of August again?

Side note: we should setup a meet shortly, mid summer meet...? .... Maybe down at Steve's house since he is closer to the cities? How about this weekend ;)?

No idea when CHI2K10 is, school starts August 23rd, so my attendance hinges on that. School is more important that Supras.

Next MNSC meet is in the western suburbs of the twin cities, July 31st - hopefully we will have a healthy Supra turnout....

In other news, at our mini Supra get together, a few more things were done to my car. Steve (FTW!!!) helped install the boost controller, and we went out to get it tuned up a bit. It's hitting about 11.5 psi right now, I may be tweaking it a bit later. Also, the CRUISE CONTROL IS NOW WORKING!!!! I have always loved cruise control, and this makes me like the car just that much more.

More stuff to do though, hopefully I'll have the rusty door and maybe some of the leaks fixed in time for the July MNSC meet.

edit:
While dialing in the boost, it started to lean out, so the 12V fuel pump relay mod was done. Car runs much better now!

Glad to hear it's working as it should now! Have you messed with the SPR setting anymore? I think you'll be able to get that CT to come online really fast using that setting!

I believe CHI2K10 is July 21st - 25th

I haven't had a chance to even drive the car except home after our mini-meet.

After work this week I think I'll be back to tweaking, and now that my MONTHLY paycheck has shown up, I might be able to actually gather together some parts to install, and maybe even find some time to get around to finding my oil leaks.

I double-checked, and CHI2K10 is indeed the 21st - 25th. I'm not sure if I want to go or not, paying for a hotel and stuff, and also having to deal with driving in Chicago (it's always been a nightmare for me in the past). What are the other Minnesota people thinking as far as Chicago is concerned?

Little mini-update: ABS is now working, so Rob can be proud, and Sean and Steve can make fun of me. :icon_bigg

I also need to finish properly setting up the boost controller. I need to better learn how to use the AEM on the fly, and set aside some time on long straight roads to get it set up.
