I remember somebody was going to develop... thought it was MDC, but i checked the site and saw no mention of it... anybody know if somebody is still going to do that? I wouldnt mind a 57trim ball bearing ct26, all stock looking, but capable of 400hp... sounds like the perfect sleeper turbo!

The normal 57 trim is capable of your power goals and there is no need for ball bearing with a CT. They spool super fast as it is. Not worth the money IMO.

I know they spool fast, and i feel it is worth the money which is why i asked...

When it comes to build the turbo motor i want, i want a nice reliable 400hp. Plus i want ball bearing, it needs less oil compared to journal, stands up to heat better. and allll sorts of good stuff.... And faster spool = boost comes on sooner which makes more power down low.

If you really want more down low, try using an N/A Intake Cam.

Yeah, they do (sort of), but it just seemed like you were the type of guy who wanted more power around the curve.

I think of it like this, if i have a ball bearing turbo, and im pushing 15psi, i'll hit 15psi faster then a normal supra which will give me more power lower when you just start the race, and then because i got the jump, if i have enough power i could hold it out.

Just my thinking... and not to mention that NO smog shop can give me shit if my turbo says "Toyota CT-26" on it...

dont try to over do anything with a CT-26. Ball bearings are nice but the next thing you know you will want to boost more because it boosts so fast and then BAM. Find someone to mix up the intake and exhaust sides to get faster spool and plus someone already said a CT-26 spool up quick.

I have no real need to get a bigger turbo... and i like the fact that i can get more than 1 wheel for the ct-26. But i know from even 2 years back the 60-1 last for like 10k miles... and now that you have a TON more vendors making these half hybrid/stock turbos, everybody has a lot more options.

but i guess i have another question, whats the max boost a ct-26 can even handle with a 57trim wheel? I thought it was around 18psi... but i want to be sure.

Upgraded CT's are fun for a while, but don't last as long as say a GT garrett. (Which is why I bought one.)

My 60-trim took a year or so from me, then blew oil on boost... so I just kept putting more oil in every time I drove it. :)

I was working on a hybrid ball bearing ct26. I sent 4 out. 2 came back and 2 (as far as I know) are still running.

The problem with them? The two that came back didn't seem to live very long. One of the 2 that is stil living came back because it actually over spun. The compressor wheel was rated for a lower turbine RPM that what the turbo achieved. When it sped past this point, it exploded.

As for the other failed turbo, it never would maintain its turbine shaft balance.

Its impossible at this point to create a dual ball bearing setup on a ct cartridge due to the way the oil inlet and oil system is designed.

MDC is there anyway to fit a stock compressor side cover of the turbo to say a garret center section? I like the idea of the turbo saying "toyota" on it, theres no way a smog tech can give you crap for that...

And who own the 2 that are still running?

What your saying is that the one turbo was too efficent and spun too fast?!?!?!

What the hell spools faster than a CT26? Honestly, is all the effort and money spent on this worth the small change?

Just get those cams, it'll improve everything you're looking for.

I don't think cams are a worthwhile investment at this power level.

Brent you had a DBB CT-26??? you would get 20psi as soon as you stepped on the pedal at any rpm? and any gear???

Wouldnt a BIG wastegate help with over spooling the turbos?

Quin i've stated why i want a DBB ct-26.
And im PLANNING my motor... i like to research and find information out before i start buying all this stuff and then learn it wont do what i want... so yeah.
