I took a drive from phoenix out to Disney:aigo: , Ive herd all the horror stories about LA area freeways. It was nuts, not what I expected but still just stupid crazy.

Its like bumper to bumper at speed, then suddenly everyone stops. Then 1 lane gets moving full speed the rest are stopped. Then that switches, some are moving some are stopped. The dam on ramps give you no time to merge into traffic at all either.

The people driving are just stupids too for the most part. You get people doing 20mph slower than the flow of traffic in the fast lane. People that suddenly come to a full stop and then slowly get moving again for no reason at all. Some one who wont let you merge into their lane for a mile only to then get into the lane your coming from.

Then the actual roads are garbage, I was in my jeep and glad I was. Was like driving offroad and add 80mph to that for a fun ride! Lanes just end and merge for no reason.

I could go on but I wont, driving out there sucks and most people driving are idiots lol.

its fun! what are you talking about?

Woulda been more fun in the supra, the jeep sucks for picking its way through traffic. Cant imagine how harsh it woulda been with eibach/tokico blues setup though. Some of the freeway had me bouncing outa my seat lol.

I feel your pain. I made the drive from Camp Pendleton to LAX and back once. Never again. I almost got ran off the road and side swiped 8 times, not to mention almost rear ending people because they decided to make a lane change without using their turn signal (seems to be an optional thing here in California). When I drive through LA, it will be a 1 way trip home. The driveres down here are so retarded. Not to mention only half speak english.

I drive these shitty freeways all the time...I think the I-10 Fwy is by far the worst as far as shitty paving...my Supra simply feels like it is going to rattle to pieces whenever I drive that one. Even my mercedes with total BOAT suspension has a hard time...everything is so uneven...

Not to mention you can never just go somewhere whenever you feel like it...you have to strategically plan every trip you make so that you don't get stuck in four hours of bumper-to-bumper traffic...yea I fucking hate socal. I don't think I will be living here for much longer.

But oh well, I guess that's what happens when 10x the amount of people that should be are crammed into one area...and 75% of them are here illegally and have no driver's licenses...makes for one hell of a scary place to live...but what can you do?

News flash: Drivers everywhere suck, St. Louis is similar just California has more people than most states and most are packed in very tightly. The United States has the most lacks driving requirments of any 1st world country, we let bubble heads drive, Drunks, Pot heads, Dumbasses, anyone with enough dough to purchase a car can drive. All ya have to do is pass the test with a 70 or higher, wow that takes skill, that and you can retake it as many times as you need too.

Wise up man, it's not california, it's everywhere in the USA and many other places.

I dont think it was just a case of More bad drivers, they were just all bad drivers there lol. I mean here in Az not everyone is great but most times people drive ok. In cali noone seems to signal for a lane change even, noone gets the left lane is the fast lane. Ya its just alot more people but there werent any good drivers mixxed into the bunch lol.

Az has its own problems, mostly the wicked old people in the biggest sedans they could buy. Or, soccer moms in the biggest SUV watching disney cartoons on their mirror/TV. Then the boy racers in their rice round out the bad driver bunch here.

Man, in missouri in a lil town of 45,000 people 10 percent or more college students. People in Big SUV's (mainly women who I suspect to be whores since they never go to work and they are in bad neighborhoods) drive at 5 to 20mph over the speed limit and weeve through traffic, Nobody uses turns signals hardly, most of which are on streets where your doing 45 and then they simply stop and turn with no warning. You have all these morons in lil cars doing 80 in a 40 and not getting stopped while anyone in a sporty car, including me has 3 to 5 squad cars a night follow it for 4 or 5 miles.

Some states are better than others but the fact is our society sucks, people have no consideration, respect, or compassion for other people and the higyways and roads are the greatest venue to see that side of people on a nice true to life scale.

Here we have turn lanes for any turn you could make, it supposed to keep the flow of traffic moving. Well people dont get that if they need to turn they just pull into the turn lane Then slow down. They always slow down to a near stop then merge into the turn lane, which defeats the whole purpose of it. I hate that so much having to come to a stop because someone is turning, they have a totally empty lane right there they just need to pull into it.

I was really expecting the high speeds in cali but never really saw it. There just wasnt enough open road I guess to get up to speed. I found I was usually doing all the passing and I was just going the speed limit.

I have noticed that driving in CA has changed dramatically in the past 6-8 years.
Any road etiquette that existed, is gone. Passing lanes are a thing of the past but I cant wait for the cell phone law to take effect and hope they enforce it.

But whats funny is, when things are moving and youre not in traffic, large amounts of people move fairly quickly. I travel a lot for work and everywhere I go I get so frustrated with how slow other drivers drive. Most noticeable in Florida and Colorado. Although in a lot of other states, people will get over when they see you coming behind them, there are still may who drive super slow and are totally unaware of their surroundings and sit there going 40 on the highway while you creep up on their bumper.

There are three areas in the US that I have driven which have made me furious and scared at the same time.
Freeway through Atlanta during rush hour.
Freeway through San Antonio during rush hour.
SoCal freeways anytime of day, but especially during rush hour.
I-15 is not terrible, so long as you aren't near areas that connect to other major interstates - at least not compared to I-8 -> I-5/805 area. Driving north on I-5 from San Diego to L.A. is a nightmare, and so is driving from I-15 from Riverside county into L.A. county. The area that I think I hate most is the stretch from the border patrol station at San Onofre up through Irvine, and on to Anaheim. If you are at one side at 4pm, don't expect to be home in time for dinner. The "Y" at Irvine/El Toro is one of the worst disaster areas I have seen in human history. With that many lanes converging from two major interstates, it'll give you heartburn at the very best.

Its not that bad, in my eyes...

But then again, I've never driven anywhere else...

I make sure to down shift and floor it every once in a while, to let people know I mean business...
