Driftmotion clutch line

So I have been trying to replace the clutch line on my car because the lower hard line got ruined. I got a full length flex line to replace all the lines. I also installed a new slave and master at the same time. So EVERYTHING is new.

I installed it all and tightened it, pour fluid in and it leaks between the line and the master. So I check that it's tight and turn it a bit more. Still leaks. So I think, maybe I over tightened it and messed up the threads.

So I take it off and it seems the first thread on the line fitting is not perfect anymore. I think this is my problem so I get another line.

New line threads into master by hand. The threads on the master seem fine. Thread it in, tighten it down but not too much. STILL LEAKS.

I haven't taken this one off yet because I think if I touch the car again I will just burn it to the ground.

Has anyone ever used one of their lines with success? I just need to know that others have used them and that I am completely incompetent. Thanks

I've got the DM clutch line on mine and other than the old line being a PITA to remove, it's a definite upgrade.

Strange that it would leak. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but couldn't you run some teflon tape on it?

I still need to find time to replace the PS line that I got from DM. And I wish I would have seen the Cold Start Injector line before I bought one from Toyota when I busted mine removing the manifold.

:::: Just noticed you mentioned between the DM line and the master??? The DM line hooks between two hard lines.

---- Edit: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/EPC/291410/catalog.aspx?F=3102&P=2 Didn't realize there were two setups and DM sold two different lines. Mine's the one on the bottom in this pic, and I've got the standard DM line, not the full length.

I have the DM full clutch line installed along with a new master and slave cylinder. I haven't filled with fluid yet, but you're getting me nervous. Plus, a torqued the shit out of it.

I highly doubt it will leak, but we'll see.

Yup, mine is the long one. I had the short one in and then ruined the line between the slave and the flex line. I couldn't find the hard line anywhere around here so I decided to just do the whole thing because it wasn't much more than the short flex line. Now I wish I had just found the hard line. And it's too late to go back now. The had line from the master to the flex got bent when taking it out.

I am not happy with how my car project is going today. fuck....

This is getting me nervous, I was going to use the DM full length clutch line for my 5spd conversion because I don't want to fork out the cash for the super expensive Toyota stuff, and the hassle of getting the hardlines in perfectly...

Can you get a macro pic of the end of the fitting and the port on the master Jamie?

I will do that as soon as I get back to the house on Monday. I'm off to my brothers university for the weekend.

Mine installed easily and is nice and dry.

You might consider looking closely at the Clutch master threads. The two DM lines showing signs of thread damge are a likely indicator of thread damge within the Clutch master housing.

If that is the case you might try tapping these threads. Biggest concern for me would be the filings getting into the Clutch Master housing.

In the end if it were me and that was not a new Clutch master cylinder, I would probably replace it anyway.

I installed a new clutch the other day and went to see how the pedal feel was and I had a leak in the braided hose itself. luckily I had some -3 line and just made up a new line but was still a pita.

When I get back I will pull this second line, pull the master and check all threads. Then I will chase the threads with a tap and possibly chase the threads on the line with a die.

I am sick of this shit. This car should have been together a week ago without this stupid problem.

Driftmotion stands behind everything they sell, If you could post up a pick of the internal threads of the master cylinder and where is is leaking I am sure we could diagnose the problem and get you stopping again, I've wanted to kick my car in the metaphorical balls lately too. BTW it should not need tape to seal correctly. I think you probably have it cross threaded once, then every time since it starts the wrong way and won't seal, you might have to redo the first couple of threads. HTH

I had the same problem with mine, DO NOT put teflon on the threads and think its fixed, the threads are not the sealing surface. The problem is that the flare is mad a bit too short. I believe I had to grind down the nut some.

If its a "new" slave and master from a oem store like autozone then it may be remanufactured. If you turned in a core than it is. some times these things happen with remain parts. Also If you chase it with a tap make sure its a the right flare tap most tap kits wont have the right pitch.

I would take the part back and exchange it. take the broken line to show them if they give you problems.

Sorry, can you be more specific? What exactly did you grind?
