I've got a bunch of people getting all up in my face about how domestic cars are better cuz there cheaper!! Me with my low knowledge of cars, love my imports and really have no comebacks. Any help would be wonderful!!!!

The domestic groups are diversified, but you basically have everyone in 3 categories -
Group 1:
People that KNOW what the hell they are doing (generally the old school muscle car guys - Pontiac and Mopar guys in particular seem to know wtf they are doing). May not know everything, but I find they tend to be really good about being knowledgable, and willing to discuss just about anything under the sun related to cars. Otherwise referred to by me as 'Gear Heads'
Group 2:
The NFI Group - Generally the majority of 3rd generation Fbody owners They are clueless. Utterly. NFI what they are doing. Terms like '3/4 race cam' tend to come up, or how much more power a '355' makes vs a std bore 350. Yeah, these are mullet powered Fox bodies and F bodies of the world
Group 3:
The More Money Than Brains Group - Corvette owners 90% of the time here. The guys spouting LSx > *, irregardless of actual reality. This group is not JUST domestics though - all walks of car-dom in this group
Import groups tend to fall into 3 categories, imho:
Group 1: I'd refer to these guys as 'tuners' - basically, young gear heads. The guys that take their Integra (or Supra ) and run 13s (or 11s) with it, and wrench on their own shit. They take pride in their ride - and to hell with what the redneck domestic owners from Group 2 say.
Group 2: Ricers. Yeah, you know who you are. :3d_frown:
I always thought of imports as those two groups - but now that I've gotten more and more into the imports myself, I've found a 3rd group -
Group 3:
The nut swingers. Armchair forum warriors. Doesn't matter that their POS is dead, with bad breaks and rod knock - THEY have the superior ride, because 'so and so' has one. Same with parts. I've never seen this in the domestic side of things (actually, in my experience, diversity is WELCOMED in the domestic circles) but in the import crowd, you find these nut swingers all over the place. Dare to be different!! Run that 7M in the MKIV!

In closing, if you ask me, 90% of the quality of the car, is sitting behind the wheel - be it good or bad quality.
It's funny, in most forms of racing its pretty much opposite, LOL.Doward said:In closing, if you ask me, 90% of the quality of the car, is sitting behind the wheel - be it good or bad quality.
Toyota h8r said:You sir are an ignorant.:icon_evil I used to own 3.5 supras(1/2 car was a parts car) and they were awesome........except two things.......BHG and parts costs. Id love to kept my 86.5 and 1jz it....but lots o money to do it. Now i own a 84 trans am that only runs 13.6's at the moment, it has a 350 sbc, th350, and a open differential. If i were to dump 2k into the car i could be running high 12's...not bad for a 1500 dollar car.....:evil2: Dont get me wrong.....mk3's look badass......but if only the parts didnt cost so fuggin much and the amt to go fast.
Doward said:Trust me on this, 85% of the 82-92 Camaro/Firebirds are clapped out. Which sucks, because a clean thirdgen is actually a damn classy looking car
Not to mention, an LS1 equipped Thirdgen without all the accessories, is a MEAN fucking machine - both on the track, and at the drag strip!
