well , i should have started this thread a few weeks ago, but that was all tear down!, not any of the fun stuff where going to want to see.

now im rebuilding my own engine at my college shop,

the reason for the rebuild was i was blowing compression into the coolant system , causing to run hot after boostin, and making the car non-reliable.

sadily i knew i needed to the block surfaced, so a basica rebuild was due. i have power goals of access of 500 horse, and i atleast want to get started in the right direction.

so far this is the list of new items.

-titain 2.mm mhg
-all crank & rod bearings through toyota
-toyota oil pump drive bearings
-toyota soft/freeze plugs
-toyota ring set
-thrust washers-toyota
-arp rod bolts
-arp main stud kit

i have had my motor balenced, crank-rods-pistons- flex plate-& harmonic balencer

the block has been decked .009" and a 25ra finish, aswell as being hot tanked.

well here's a few pics so you can get a picture of where im at..
btw, sorry theire cell phone pics at the moment..

top of the block lubed with oil to aid in rust prevention.

main journals lubed up just like the deck, btw remove the oil before installation of the new bearings. do remember to add a assembaly lube to the bearing surface though!
p379618_2.jpg

a few pics of the arp main studs going in. and yes i check with the oil pump to make sure i had the correct bolts where needed.

and no this isn't chevy orange, or salmon pink it's a chysler red. looks red-orange but with shop lights has a pink salmon look to her..

any ways, more to come!

it really sucks my cell phone is the only camera i have handy at school.. i guess it's alright pics compairble to kodak instant shots or some thing :biglaugh:

any ways..

a little update

~ this smorning i torqued down the crank, and plasticgauged it. came up with a little bit loser spec but still with in std specs and well with in max limit. so im good to go!
i have used as mix of lucus oil stabilzer and assembly cam bearing lube. both similar in compound different color.

i have been checked off on installing rings. No rings broke! and also checked piston clearance and it's just at .001" so where good here too!
bores were straite and true. crank was true and no bent rods.

i assembled the crank and for rods 2345 on and torqued. tomorrow morning im going to torque & plasticgauge the last 2 and get checked off on crank and rod torque specs. 75&47

well i do have to admit the motor is looking sharp with this oil pan off!

well i ran into a hicup..

the bearings i recived from toyota for the oil pump drive shaft are the wrong inside diamiter. and are correct O.D for the holes.

i have been using wheel cylinder hones making my best attempt to remove enough bearing to get the shaft in, it's a long slow process since the bearing is clogging up the stone hones..

there's no grit getting into the block, where using brake clean thats being dapped up along the way, and the oil passege is on the top of the hole where honing. not to mention since the bearing is soo soft, it's coming of with no damge to the hone, and just clogging it up, thats why it's taking soo long to do this, i

i almost to the part where it's te right size, and then just need to go for oil clearence which shouldn't take much longer.

well i have seem to hit a rough spot, the balencer shaft/ oil pump drive shaft, isn't quite fitting the bearings.

ive made great attempts but clogging hones are a pita, i knocked out the outer bearing to put in my spear, and same bag of b0lts.

ive ordered new bearings through my machine shop who just short blocked my brothers motor, bearings should be in monday, or tuesday.

i might have to pull the bottom end back apart, and if that happens i will be on a tight schedual to finish this motor before the end of the qouter
