you know... i like to think that i can be a reasonable and level headed individual who excercises tolerance. i try to just accept people for who they are cuz maybe thats how they really ARE. however, im not sure if im the only who feels this way or if there are other people out there like myself. there are just simple things that really irritate the piss out of me... chaps my ass, frosts my junk, and so on.

1. when people are too cool to refer to their friends as "friend" or "buddy" but rather as "my boy". Youre not G-unit, you dont need to pretend to be too cool to use proper grammar!

call me crazy, but i prefer to not have to listen to people talk like uneducated vermin. but, preferences aside, i realize that even uneducated jabronis who cant speak properly still have problems and that i may have useful information.

is there any other things that you peoples have heard your boys say that make you think "WTF mate?"

I agree. Little shit like misspelling of words, misuse of your, you're, there, their, they're, to, two, too... My boy, "my boi", bro this, bro that... I consider myself the grammar police. I'm not perfect, but compared to what I see, I should be considered a genious most of the time :p

Spelling doesn't measure intelligence, nor grammar. Grammer police are more annoying then a person who slightly miss types a word here and there, any day of the week. When I type , the amount I care about spelling/grammar is very low. Now if you miss spell every word, and confuse people thats another story. Also, the whole asain e-writing is retarded, OmG BoIz I tEH beAt teh MKiV todAy on Da hi waAy, simple because it is less efficient then typing correctly. Efficiency could also be considered the speed at which you delivered your text, not just spelling/grammar perfection.

Bottom line, spelling/grammar police, your annoying sorry.

improper spelling or grammar is irritating me too, at least in written form..... first because I'm kind of a spelling fetishist :)D), no matter what language, and second because it makes the author/speaker harder to understand if there are many spelling/punctuation/grammar errors. I think when a person is writing a text for others to read, he/she should maybe spend a little more time of his to save the time of many others who eventually have to decypher the post/email/whatever.
of course I know that there are people having dyslexia who can't do anything about their writing problems, but I don't like it when people misspell out of plain ignorance.

but even though it's quite tempting at times to correct them, I also think that doing so is rather irritating to others. and apart from that, I'm nowhere near perfect myself (at least not in english :p).

it gets annoying when the person doing the typing does it on purpose. meaning they try to type in ebonics or whatever you want to call it.

spelling may not be a measure of intelligence, but how well someone can express a thought sure is.

yes, its terriably annoying. Period, wether you're verbalizing it, or typing it... Talk like you have some education... although I have poor grammar and spelling skills, I'm talking about deliberate improper use

LOL....LOL....LOL

i had a friend say LOL to me...he got punched in the stomach.

I don't mind a sluedian frip here and there..but in a technical discussion correct spelling, usage, punctuation, and sentence structure is a must.

Also..I pick certain people's posts apart just to tick them off..

Would you like to know more?

haha... you guys crack me up.

i try to type in a way that people are most comfortable reading. or perhaps in a way that is more comprehensible than alternating caps or Leet speak. to me, the alternating caps and leet speak is retarded most of the time. there are other times when it is justifiable and can be enterntaining, such as when i mock those who use said text seriously. but its also annoying when people try to be TOO cool... like 4 years ago when i first saw "I ShIfT M@dd KwIK Yoo!!!1" that irritates the piss out of me. of course, not being able to resist the urge to mock the retards that speak like that for real and think they are cool, i came up with "Thats Madd Tyte yo"... and i ended up adding "JDM" to that phrase when the JDM craze came caught on... hence my trademark phrase that has seem to catch on... similar to how bert's "Weak Sauce" retort is popular. i use that all the time to describe people, objects or actions that are sub-par. ;)

but, when me and my friends screw around, we Do say the internet expressions out loud. we seem to find it funny when we say "Dubya Tee Eff mate" or "Rofflechopter" or "Pee tee eff oh" or "Stahfooo Noobie!" or "Jee tee eff oh mate!"

of course, there are some people who just arent able to type correctly. like Nash, i think its just unnecessarily difficult when he tries to type out replies. i dont have a problem with that because i know he doesnt do it on purpose and he isnt using leet speak and hes not using alternating caps. i have no problem with that sort of thing.

its just the true jabroni keyboard-thugs out there that have the mentality of a 14 year old who refuse to convey thoughts in a mature and respectable manner: "Yo guys, Me and my boyz seen dis Probe last nite, it was Madd Tyte yo! we was gunna race it but he had Nawz on that shit and i was like No way dawg, yo shits hella mad TypeR fast! so my boy was like Yo son, i be bringin out my V6 Mustang GTR, ill hit you up and we can race, fuh shizzle"

i guess its too much to ask people to try to maintain some sort of professionalism... but then again, for christ's sake, this isnt ClubSi.com people!

I just wanted to say you seem more concerned about things other than grammar, such as spelling, and the correct usage of words in sentences.

Grammar in text is generally considered to be more correct capitalization, punctuation, and so on.

I don't mind when people make mistakes, and I don't bother pointing things out usually, however if it makes it harder to understand what they're saying, usually I'll bring it up. I find it so much easier to understand someone when they communicate well. I think that goes without saying though, heh.

Personally, in most posts I make, I do capitalize things, and I do spell things correctly, if you do it all the time, it simply becomes habbit, and if I notice I've made a mistake I go back and fix it, it only takes me a second to do, and if it makes it even a bit easier for someone to understand, it's worth my time. I don't generally post on forums for my own benefit, so I might as well take the time to communicate my thoughts in a way that will actually help the person I want it to.

Well then; carry on.

bert's "Weak Sauce" retort is popular

It's hardly his retort though, since I've heard people use it for years before I even knew of SF or SM. From people who don't even have cars now, much less a few years ago. :p

yeah, ive come to the conclusion that some punctuation is moot in my attempts for writing or typing long winded posts. people KNOW that im not retarded and that i know there should be an ' in I've, or that i know "Y" should be capitalized... but, i base it all on the general assumption that people understand it. perhaps i have the assumption that its an unspoken understanding. i have the common sense to say youre when i mean you are... which obviously means i know there is an ' that goes in there somewhere... i just dont care to type it in because its dangerously close to the Enter key and one false slip means im one line past where i should be. and if i mispelled a word or reversed a couple letters in a word, i usually give myself a 20 character leeway. as in, if im LESS than 20 characters away from my mistake, i will backspace and correct it. if im Farter than 20 characters away, my spelling/grammar mistake is on his own ;)

my last example of thugged out, whigger, ricer speak is the exact thing that irritates me; improper use of words, lack of conjugation of verbs, misplaced adjectives, words improperly used as adjectives and so on. i typically let it slide because i dont want to be an asshole... but i wanted to see if anyone else has the same take on this subject as i do. im not typically a pot-stirrer, but its annoying when people use the Whigger/ricer speak and actually feel the need to TYPE like that.

My big thing is when people say "could of" or "should of." I can let things go like spelling mistakes and so on, but they don't even know the words that are coming out of their mouths when the speak. You aren't saying the word "of." You are saying could have; COULD HAVE! When shortened it becomes could've, not could of.

That's really annoying.

^ what's with that guy? anyway, what bothers me in this forum or any others, naturally, is a general noncompliance with grammar, spelling, but most importantly, punctuation. i hate it when stories go on for hours. you dont know where they begin or end, and typically when you point it out to the offending person, they get all up in arms about it. they act like it doesnt matter and YOU'RE wasting THEIR time by posting that it's unreadable.

now, before anyone says anything, i realize i dont use proper capitalization. it doesnt really matter as far as i can see. i believe i convey my thoughts quite well, thank you. :p

carry on folks.
