Cuts Out Under Boost..

the reason it is cutting out is because when you let off and hit the gas a sudden rush of air goes through the AFM causing it to hit fuel cut. i extended my air filter about 8inches away from my AFM to keep it from cutting out. i relocated it behind the headlight.

That is not even close to being correct :3d_frown:
You've demonstrated again you have NFI what you're talking about.

Drove the car, and it seemed to run alot better.. I get back, and check my codes again.. Now Im getting a code 11.

Code 11??? Are you sure? I don't see a code 11 in the TRSM. ;)
Or are you getting a fast, constant interval blink?

Suggest you check your base timing...there is a specific way to do that in the TRSM.

Are you running the stock injectors?
Are you running the stock fuel pump?
Are you running an adjustable fuel pressure regulator or the stock FPR?
Do you have a wideband O2?

what ever man i have had my car for 10f**in years and drove the s**t out of it. I do know what the F i am talkin about . i dont know what your problem is . i am just telling the guy something that i have had experence with. and i fixed the problem AND THATS WHAT I DID to fix my problem. CAR RUNS GREAT. He wants advice not a bunch of technical answers that he might not know what they mean or stand for. If he is wanting to increse boost he should know the consequences of doing so

I know the consequences.. But 12lbs of boost.. What kind of danger am I in? And yes, I turned the boost back up because i connected my knock sensors, and got rid of the codes.. I wanted to see if it was going to solve the problem or not.. Or is it stupid to see if I got rid of it? I got a swap for a turbo engine, to get more power.. and keep going up in the HP numbers.. If I didnt care much about power, I would have stayed n/a.

Code 11 is something about the ecu not getting constant power I believe. But I guess timing is something I should check up on.

Im running stock injectors.. stock fuel pump (is the turbo and non-turbo fuel pumps the same?).. No fuel pressure regulator or wideband 02.

What do you suggest I invest in next? I was thinking about getting a fuel pressure regulator and tuning it on a dyno.

Redacted per Title 18 USC Section 798
Code 11 is a fault in the ECU power supply. No other codes will be displayed until it's resolved.

Hey guys. Could I rebuild my ct26 my self. Because I blew one up already and tore it down. So I pretty much know were every thing goes. Also do I have to get it balanced to?

I have a modded afm. I drilled out the adjustment screw hole and backed the screw out. Thats how i am running 15psi of boost. I do have a afpr set to 40psi . I also save a AFR guage. Accroding to it i am not running lean. But it is wired into the stock o2.

Supraboy89 said:
Also I am only getting 250whp at 12psi and holding all the way through the RPMs. My torque is at 315 I want to get my HP up to the 280 mark do I need to up my boost or do something else.

You need to resolve the code 11...my books are at home, the online TRSM doesn't even show that code. JJ knows what he's talking about though...other codes will not display until that one is fixed. The grounds are a good place to start...they are on the intake manifold. Get it fixed and check your timing.

The reason I asked about the fuel system...you need to make sure you have the fuel to support the boost. You want to make sure your head bolts are at 72-75 ft/lbs too. Most guys at this level go to either a Lex AFM w/ 550 injectors or a MAFT Pro. The next thing to do would be an AFPR, drill out the J tube, and upgrade the fuel pump. You do not want to risk running lean at higher boost...detonation will ruin your day. That where the wideband AFR comes in to see if your fuel tuning is working as it should.

Lots of threads on this...need to do a little "light reading" before you turn up the boost.

Yes it's technical...on this car in needs to be or you will become one of the many sad threads where your motor decides to take a dump. The EFI system on this car is fairly complex...treat it that way.

If it hit fuel cut in that manner, don't you think the people at toyota who spent probably more money researching that part, than you will make in a lifetime, would of noticed that?

The thing is, what you are telling him is just flat wrong. There are multiple examples of that from your previous posts. You have no idea how the EFI system on this car works. It's not a matter of opinion...it's a fact.

What would you reccomend, MAFT pro or lex afm/ 550 injectors? (or whats cheaper, lol) I was already looking into getting a walbro 255. As for the head gasket, its a cometic metal headgasket and the mechanic torqued the ARP studs to what was reccomended by ARP.

So I shouldnt be running more than stock boost, without doing any fuel upgrades? Or whats safe to run?

All my car has done other than the MHG and arp studs, is 3" downpipe and exhaust. I just wish I had the damn money to get everything done.

The Lex/550 combo is cheaper and will raise fuel cut to 14-16 psi. Long term, the MAFT Pro is a better, more flexible option...it can also control boost, enable speed density (eliminate the AFM) and control fuel iirc. But it's more expensive and more complex.

Next get an AFPR w/ gauge and drill out the J tube. Then do the Walbro.

I wouldn't run over 8-10 psi without a wideband telling me what's going on with AFR's.
Then again, I'm conservative when it comes to that kind of thing...I don't want to detonate my motor ;)
