Are you sure the cam/ignition timing is correct? Ive seen these cams idle pretty well.

no i haven't yet im trying to figure the best way to tuneit while using stock injectors and afm but i swear when i pulled the hose off it was like it took a big breath after being suffocated or something and yes its right at twelve degrees before tdc im goin to give it one more degree of over lap i reduced it by four degrees might have been to much but i know now not to listen when a company says it needs no tune to look it up first i regret buying them i want stock cams back so i can just boost it more so much more driveable

i check the timing and adjust it everytime i move the exhaust cam what do yall recommen tuning it with i dont have alot of money but i do have a savings that was saving up for a standalone but i rather not spend that much unless i have to could i do it with just a apexi neo but wouldnt i have to buy injectors or will it work with stockers the car drives fine just doesnt like to stay idleing sometimes it will idle like a charm and others it wont stay on at all its so wierd and unpredictable

Are you guessing at the cam timing?
I see no actual opening/closing figures, or lobe center figures in any of your posts.
Do you have a degree wheel ?

Or did you just throw them in, and hope for the best ?

When running any aftermarket cams, they come with a paper with the suggested valve lash. I have a set of HKS 264 cams going in my 1J and they recommend certain valve lash for the intake and exhaust side. The paper for my 264 cams said 8 thou on intake and 12 on the exhaust side.

If your valves are set too tight, you will leave a valve open and you will not have smooth idle. If you have the lash too large, you will hear noises and can spit a shim. Put them in recommended spec.

After adding those cams, you should get adjustable cam gears. After timing the engine according to the marks on the front timing cover and the cam cover, you will need to degree the cams to have the optimum performance and driveability.

I have an Apexi Neo tuning the fuel. Not 100% on the tune itself, but I could always go check if need be. But every car is different, so my tune may be different then yours. But apexi neo is what Im using.

He had a shop install them. If he didnt do it then i doubt hes going to mess with the lash. Any good shop would had done it. He could tho double check with a feeler gauge.

I am wondering the same thing. Was the cams installed according to the timing events on the cam card? Or did they get installed like a set of OEM cams by just lining up the timing marks. Aftermarket cams NEED to be installed according to the timing card supplied with the cam or they will be out of time from the start. There is a sticky about how to adjust the cam gears and how to re-adjust ignition timing after moving the cam gears.

Whoops, I didn't see that. Some shops think that the 7M, 1JZ and 2JZ run adjustable hydraulic lifters and they don't adjust them. Not a lot of shops know what they are doing on these engines.

They all can work on a Supra, 80% won't know what they are doing.

the shop rebuilt the head so im sure he knows it not hydraulic bc it was completely apart i also have crower springs and they just put the head together i put the head on i did only line the marks up i thought that was what u were suppose to do i thought crower would have made them to match themarks thats how i would of made them i remember talking to the guy and he told me had to just the pucks and he said it was kinda hard and told me about it so im guessiong he knows what he is doing the machine shop has put together 1000 hp 2j build together that tms designed for a guy down here so they know these engines a litttle atleast where is that sticky about cam timing
