So I'm browsing craigslist, just nosing around and "maybe" looking for a small suv or supercab p/u when my plans went awry. I just knew I shouldn't click that link for the 87' Supra. It's straight, rust free, a 5spd, and I'm a few G's lighter in the bank account.

I've decided to blame it on the only other Toyota I've ever owned, an 86' MkII Ptype. When I finally let her go her 5M was happily ingesting 9lbs of pressure fed from an M90 Eaton.... that little detail in an externally stock, right down to the factory 14" wheels, MkII seemed to annoy quite a few racer-boys. :naughty:

Being a torque fiend there's zero chance my MkIII will be staying stock. Seems I need to get busy researching the details of making a 7M live at elevated kpa. Looks like I found the place for that. While I'm researching and acquiring parts for a major power and driveline upgrade the 87' will be getting a serious brake upgrade based on a pair of 4piston 996 Porsche Monoblock calipers, some suspension tweeking, lightweight 17" wheels, and fresh paint.

Hope to have many great discussions in the future!

Keith

Welcome, lets see some pics of both of them, MKII and MKIII! Sounds like your MKII was a screamer.

Thanx SupraMario.

I'll get pics of the 87" as soon as I get her home. Unfortunately pics of the MkII are a no go. I owned her long before I ever owned a dig camera and a couple of moves have left me with one pic of her, and that pic is just of one of my sons sitting on her nose.

Yeah, the MKII was a screamer, luckily loud enough to drown out the noises made by any passenger I happened to have when I decided to play. Positive displacement superchargers and stock width 14" tires are a bad combination. I had to install a restrictor orifice in the bypass valve vacuum line to slow down the boost hit just to ensure some sort of traction in 3rd. There was no hope at all for 1st and 2nd under any circumstances. Rain? The drive belt had to be removed because any sudden throttle application in any gear was suicidal.....

.... but DAMN that car was fun to drive!

Yeah same here. I always tell my gf stop looking at craigslist because you will always want to buy something.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then I did it, and ended up with a very nice 89 with a bhg. But the interior is perfect. looks like it came off the show room floor. The jack and spare had never been used. Targa tool and the caps for the targa bolts when you take the top off. original arm rest with no tears steering wheel in almost perfect condition.Owners manual and 111000 miles on it. Paint is good all around except for the hood and drivers side head light cover clear coat peeling. All for the price of $800. :aigo: At the time i bought it i already had two supras. :naughty: So I LOVE and HATE craigslist.

Thanx for the Warm welcome everyone. :icon_bigg

Jeff, I'll snap a few pics of the Porsche monoblocks mounted on my 91' Audi 200q20v. That car is very close in weight to the MkIII and they've proven many times to be able to stand it on its nose from triple digit speeds.

Welcome ! Yea Supra's have had me bitten for boost/torque for the longest time lol. I was finally able to get my 1st one here recently and first day I had it, I accidentally started off in 3rd gear lol. Any lesser car would of probably stalled.

Welcome Keith. I live in Uniontown, Ohio. Maybe you have seen my Maroon and Grey two tone Supra? I also found my Supra on Craigslist, along with the exhaust, headers, 18 inch rims and Pirelli tires that I bought for it. You can always find some good deals on there. By the way, have you checked out http://ohiosupras.org/ yet?
