So I have everything I need to rebuild my cps following the rebuild thread and I'm trying to get the dowel out of the gear.

I drill a hole on one side last night and then found I don't have any sort of peen to peen it out so my dumb-ass decided to drill into the other side and maybe it'l some how magically come out easier if there's a hole all the way through it...

I have a peen now and am whacking at it so hard I would have something in common with megan fox if I missed but anyway it won't come out and I'm pretty sure I bent the rod that goes thru the cps cause its twice as hard to spin it and it stops like the wheel of fortune wheel when the needle is bent just about to turn over but decided to go settle back on bankrupt but in fast forward.

What would someone who knows what they're doing do?

You have to drill the peened end off.

When the pin is installed it's peened (mushroomed) on both sides when you drill the one side your drilling off that mushroom so the pin can slide threw. Support the other side of the gear on a block of wood or something so you don't bend the shaft.

Where did you source the lip seal?

It didn't register for me why I had to do that till I read your post... thanks!

I had 2 thick shop rags double folded in my vice to ensure the cps didn't get damaged but after opening and closing the vice numerous times trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.. tiny slits opened up through the rags.

I didn't notice this cause they were too small and until after taking it out again I realized the finned piece before the gear and the surface before the O-ring is completely pitted and fucked from contact with vice thru the rags...

Looks like I'm gonna have to find another cps at this point.

Edit,
Got the seal from Motion Industries.

I don't recommend them because it took 2 weeks to get it to me and they charged $10 shipping for a box smaller than my big toe.

www.kbox.ca also has CPS seal kits that includ a new pin and the inner shaft seal.

If this is the same type of kit you are referencing through Motion Ind.

DAMNIT!! :: angry :: Where was this before my 3 week long nightmare of searching for the parts. I would order it from there this second if i didnt find another place to get the bearing and seal separately.

And i ordered the gear assembly from toyota for like 50 bucks, comes with new gear and pin.

Motion told me i had to order a 25 dollar minimum, there 2 dollars a piece.

He has had that kit for a long time now, also another place in the states to order it from is www.twosrus.com

Ive done business with both guys before David from twosrus and the guy who owns Kbox, they are huge names over on the MR2 forums. Good guys really.

I just rebuilt my cps, the pin was a pain. I got my parts from NAPA. The seal is Part #563509 made by SKF and the bearing part #6000-2RSJ made by SKF also.
