Hey guys guess what. My car is still acting up. Sometimes its fine and other times no dice. The car does not run with a miss or anything when it runs. It just refuses to start at certain times and it hasnt thrown any codes yet. Im gonna buy a brand new battery that is bigger than the ones Ive used in the past so that I have more cold cranking amps. Im also gonna put new spark plugs and wires on it..... Im also gonna start playing musical coils soon even tho I believe they are fine hince no missfire. Is it possible the coldstart injector is bad also even tho I can smell the fuel after trying to start it for a while. Anyone know what size battery will do the job. I believe the Autocraft that i have is rated for 600 cold cranking amps. This is really getting frustrating for me and i need to get to work and back.:1zhelp:

I pulled #1 when I was there this afternoon and grounded it on the post for the cover and had my buddy watch for spark while I hit the starter. The battery I was using came from my other supra thats been sitting for a little while but the battery is only a few months old. I charged it inside overnight before this. Tonight my Dad and I went in the gmc1500. I put the original battery that I had been charging all day back in it. We were gonna pull it to jump it off but dad told me to try before we started towing and sure enough she fired right up. This mess is driving me nuts. Im gonna test the battery with a hydrometer tomorrow. When I got the car home it was idleing ok. It wasnt missing or anything but id say it wasnt running like it should. Im still leaning towards cps I suppose.

Right, I just set it all from scratch, so there is no reference like that... and I didn't bother to check before hand.

HAHAHA yup I've been here and done this. HAHAHA its the biggest pain in the ass! But "cygnus" will show you the way. I had the TSRM though so its even bigger help. I just took mine out and hoped a new one would boy that was dumb!

Just tried a brand new high quality battery. Didnt help with the no spark. I guess its either the cps or the ecu... Pulling hair out. When it runs it runs like nothing is wrong. It just decides it doesnt want to start back up sometimes until its ready to again. Ive been using every source of info that is available to me. Cygnus, Haynes, and all you SM junkies.

The electronics bieng coated in oil should have zero effect on there performance, its all magnetic fields and the coils pickup the movement in the magnet.

Get a Digital Volt Ohm Meter/Digital Multi Meter/Digital Volt Meter and check the resistances. if they have the proper resistance rebuild the CPS with a new bearing and seal and youll be good to go. its very simple, the hardest part is getting the gear off.
