Probably so, but then again, we aren't talking about how much air the car cuts through a certain speeds, we are talking about how much air the stock fan can flow at Higher RPMs compared to an electric fan's near constant speen and airflow.

stock fans probably do flow more at higher rpms than the electrical one do, this i am not going to argue just for the fact that i dont know. but just tell me who is out there driving around at 4000 prms or higher at 30 mph? the only time i will see that kinda rpms is when i letting loose, and untill i hight 4th and 5th gear im not staying in the rpm range for too long. so by the time that you hit those gears, you will be up high enough in the mph that you will have enough air flow comming through the car with the electical fans on that you will get sufficiant enough cooling, at least i would think.not here to argue just my opinion on the matter.

I understand. Have you read the flame war threads on electric fans vs stock fans? That's what this will end up being and I don't want that.

The thing is, the stock fan has proven itself to be extremely reliable for +15 years. Why change a cooling system that is proven to work? The only instances that it doesn't is when the fan clutch needs a rebuild (again, they last for well over a decade), a clogged radiator needs to be replaced, and worn, rotting hoses need to be changed out with new one. There is a negligable gain in HP by changing to electric, but then again, a lot of people have problems with the fans burning out after a few years and blowing fuses.

for long periods of time?

at those speeds, your fan is just causing drag on the engine (yes, the fan clutch is supposed to stop this, but it's NOT perfect)

I'd like to put the hydrofan setup on a 7M and see how it performs (if it's even doable), as I see that as a good compromise...

Install a good aftermarket water temp gauge so you can get acurate numbers and check the differences between the two (with the stock fan being reconditioned of course).
