Coolant leak from where??

I just finished a complete engine rebuild. The engine is up and running finally but I have water vapour from the tailpipe once the engine has been runing for a couple of minutes. I checked the compression & it varies between 142 & 150 psi(wet).
Does this mean that the water vapour is coming from the turbo charger, or is it still possible that the head is leaking sightly? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is it just water vapor coming out? If so, that's a normal by-product of an internal combustion engine operating.
If it's a plume of thick, sweet-smelling white smoke, then you may have a problem!

Water from the tailpipe is a good thing. It is a sign of complete combustion.

Thanks for your time. There is a slight smell but not overwhelming, maybe I'm just a little paranoid. There were a few hiccups with the rebuild.

was the motor at operating temp? if the exhaust is still cold then of course its going to steam!

like if you breath hot air on a cold day

first start paranoia is normal!

i have to ask this question since the thread is already up. im having a coolant leak problem, i found where it coming from but i cant seem to stop it. the steady stream of coolant is coming from the mount where the clutch fan pully is mounted to on the front of the block.

That "mount" is your water pump.

ok i figured, well its coming from there, i checked to see if any of the bolts came loose, but they arent.

Waterpumps are dirt cheap (compared to oil pumps) Driftmotion sells them for 55, my local guy can get them for 35. sip racing has one with a better impeller design for 70. You get what you pay for, but none of the above are going to leak. Besides its a good idea to change it even if thats not whats leaking. Go do work son!

Plan on ~2 hours and taking the radiator out (makes the job soooo much easier). Good time to change the belts too.

Chief, do you lose coolant?

Noob, if you didn't know what the water pump was you should probably change it. As said, get a decent one and change the belts too.

You'll get a new WP gasket with the pump.

With the rad out, inspect it. Flush the block
