Is it stable at that clock speed? (Have you run Prime95 on both cores for 24 hours)

It's stable yes at that clocking speed(stock cooler btw)...I can play games and such without going over 65º C, but when trying to stress test the cpu, temps go over 65º C. I still need to figure out how to get the best out of overclocking it, it's fast, but seems slower then it was at stock settings. I plan to modifiy the case and add a Water Cooling system soon, so that should take care of the temp problem. Did I say it was stable right? :naughty:

Just an update....I think I might've fried the cpu. I had it at 16x multi and 330Mhz FSB, which comes to just shy of 5.3Ghz. I'm thinking of the Core 2 Duo e6600 or e6700. Any inputs?

thats a high temp, get some fans/watercooling in that thing ASAP. at idle, im somewhere around 35*c and i rarely see ovr 45*. if there are any CS1.6, CZ, D2, GW/GWF LMK. i also have source, but cant remember my steam pass for that account and that email is gone, lol.

edit my specs
6200 PCI
2.53 P4
1g DDR400(it oced my system when i put it in :) i love old MOBOS
320w PSU
msi ??? board
going to get a new board soon, and swap everything into a bigger case. i figured out that i can safely OC my 2.53 to 3.06 safely. cant wait to getr over 100 FPS :)

Yea, bought an Core 2 Duo cpu the other day and maybe it will show up this weekend. I'm sure I toasted the cpu at 1.55V, oh well....the price you pay to learn. Right before I overclocked it again, I had temps of: cpu 33 degrees and mobo 36 degrees, so folks....watercooling helps a lot!

you bought a watercooling kit? How's that going? I heard it's better to piece one together yourself, but I unno.

I heard DangerDen.com sells some pretty damn good water cooling parts and kits. I'll probably gonna give them a try later on.

Actually, it's not really a kit as most would refer it to....but more of a combo package. High quality stuff and dropped cpu temps from 60's to 33-ish. All branded by Swiftech...pretty cheap, but effective.

All I know is my Pentium shit runs hot, and the AMD stuff is cool as a cucumber and faster at the same time..

Next laptop is going to be AMD based. (In fact, untill Intell comes up with something really amazing, I'm very happy with the better prices and cooler running temps of the AMD X2 PC I have now.)

My laptop is a Pentium 4 HT, and runs hotter than hell! Fans at times sound like jet planes on takeoff.

Pretty good gaming laptop I have to admit. (I really like the 17" wide screen and full sized keyboard with 10 key.)

I usually don't see UPS or FedEX ship stuff out on the weekends. either that or it's just what I see at work. All you have to do is keep an eye out on the tracking.

BTW, what keyboard and mouse combo are you using? My order had the Logitech G15 keyboard and now I'm just looking for a nice mouse to go with it for a bit of gaming and everyday use.
