89jdm7m: thank you for your response, but if you read one of my other posts in this thread, you would've read me saying "sorry, it must have either been an 87, or an 86.5 with a gte swap already done to it"

nashman: i know i adjusted the pedal correctly has a had about 3/4" of freeplay in the pedal, but if the slave cylinder rod is too long, then i suppose, but it wouldn't make sense since it doesn't happen when i release. however, i will try anything at this point, does anyone want to measure that rod? i'll go measure mine tomorrow (it's 3am)

well, all the flywheel bolts check out, proper size, bolt holes in the flywheel are proper size (bolts fit with very very little play). i even double checked that all the flywheel bolt holes are the same size, and they are.

flywheel has the 20 thou step in it.
flywheel height is about ~1.329" from top to bottom
flywheel bolt length is 1.044" (from bottom of head to end of bolt)

i don't know what else to check on the flywheel???

brewster, try changing flywheels. that is the only thing i didn't do, and in the end, the os giken came with it's own flywheel.

good luck.

to which things are you referring? i have over torqued the flywheel a few times, but other times i have torqued them to spec, and it still broke...and i don't see how over torqueing the pressure plate bolts affect anything as my friend does it the same way, but yeah, i probably have.

well it's a long story, but i've tried that. i'm having a shop do this for me.

round 1: take car to independent shop and had a new stock clutch kit installed.
round 2: take car back because pedal is pulsating (they didn't resurface the flywheel...) and clutch is still slipping. they install new lightweight flywheel which they say didn't fit so they installed a very thin spacer on it...
round 3: all was good for a few days then the clutch started slipping really bad again and it became hard to shift into gear. took it to toyota who charged me $80 to fix the clutch engagement point... which still, of course, didn't fix the problem. so i guess i'll be taking it back to them again...

i think it's the pressure plate again, same symptoms. could the shop installing things wrong cause the pressure plate to break? the first one's not releasing completely.
