(difference being the safety net the inner provides means replace the broken spring and it's good to go again)
TKA: It's not so much a float issue when everything is stock as the motor can't rev hard due to the ECU limiter but (and there's always a but) with old sacked out stock springs that are under 40 lbs seat pressure if you start cranking the boost it acts against the back of the Intake valve.
So take your base pressure of 35 lbs then say 20 psi boost and you can see how you can float the valves at rather low rpm, it's not as dangerous as it seems as our motors are non interference and when they float they just lose power and NOT hurt parts.
