"You Are Bidding the Following One
T3 T4 T04B Turbocharger
.60 A/R Compressor, 1.15A/R Turbine

3" Inlet & 2" Outlet"

As usual....a BIG@$$ Turbine A/R. :nono:

I won't doubt that it's a bad turbo...but I'd highly recommend having a professional tear down and inspect it before throwing it on your prized possession.

With the way people can get their hands on turbo's these days, I can't say that eBay turbo's are junk anymore (some of them still are)...but again, people don't understand the complexity of a turbo, therefore throw together great parts, but with cheap standards...

Good luck to you.

Buy it, blow it up, send it to us. I'll be waiting for a PM. ;);)

It's worth a try a few people i deal with have tried ebay turbos Xs power in specific, and have had good results. I am trying the T61. I'll let you know how it goes.

Go with something that has a longer warranty. I'd say buy the ebay xspower t61. It's actually just their t-70 compressor but with a smaller AR T4 exhaust housing (.84) on it.

I have one, haven't installed it yet, but looks to be a good turbo. No shaft play and spins pretty easily.

you need to get a v-band flange and have it pressed and welded in. the warranty on those is a joke unless you open the box and its got something visually wrong with it its gonna be a pain to prove somethings toast.

g luck man

Yep biggest problem with that is ".60 A/R Compressor, 1.15A/R Turbine 3" Inlet & 2" Outlet"

Spool up will take awile... and when it does it wont be much.

I've had several XS Power and SSAuto turbos pass through my shop, some of them are junk (by some I mean most) but on rare occasion I've seen some of them last and put down some impressive numbers. I myself have bought a few to use for mock up for manifolds and downpipes and kept one of the T61's
around. It seems to actually be a nice turbo. I can see that the center cartraige is a real Turbonetics, they ground the logo off, but didn't do a good job of it. I've ripped it all apart to inspect it...it looks as good as my Garrett (other than the compressor wheel looks like cheap china pot metal)

Heres some things to look at that I have seen wrong with them right out of the box.
1: We got one that the exhaust housing was JB welded together! It was obviously cracked during casting, they JB welded it and painted over it.

2: Had one right out of the box with a bent shaft

Honestly for the money if you are looking to do a low budget boost project you can't beat them. It beats the hell out of a used junk yard turbo (in most cases)

Hope that helps. I agree with the previous comment though...that particular turbo will takes days to spool, then when it finally does, the compressor combo is not enough to make it worth the wait.

I ordered a t61. The shaft wasn't bent and fins are good, no shaft play and it even comes pre-oiled. Not too shabby if you ask me.

the biggest problem w/ebay turbos is that they are NEVER what they are advertised to be....i.e. they're not T61s or GT35Rs, etc. i'll let jon @ MDC pipe in as he's torn down many of them....

1.15 turbine A/R. I guess since its a T3, it won't spool as bad as if it was a T4 with a 1.15 A/R. Still, it looks like it will be laggy without much top-end power.

I just don't understand why no one listen's.. The turbo and its sizing are going to effect More Than Anything how your engine is going to perform. In other words, spend the extra money on a turbo thats proven to perform reliablbly and sized right so you can get the most mid-range and high rpm power.

Thanks DR J.

Most of them aren't any where near what they say they are. The one you have pictured is most commonly advertised as a To4s or Tso4. Its no where near that.

Its actually a copy of a old John Deere to4b, with a small (~43lbs) compressor wheel with a P trim turbine on the back.

The housing is large enough a stock 7m won't spool it untill 4500-5000rpms.

Also, with most of the ebay turbos that I have torn down (all those comming out of China or India) they have all had walnut shells inside them.

Walnut shells you say?

They blast them with crushed shell after assembly to clean the outside housings.

exactly!

the reason no one listens is because they're too cheap...:3d_frown:

you need to get alot of custom parts to make that turbo a plug and play

Not at all. Just a spacer, v-band dp, and ebay manifold. That's about it, plus it helps if you know how to weld.

I don't know about walnut shells, but mine did have a few specks of some type of brownish cardboard like stuff. I took mine apart and cleaned it and crudely checked it for balance. :biglaugh:
