im tired of looking at that dam black folgers coffee can under my hood, what do i have to do to get rid of it? theres a solid line up against the firewall and a vacume to the solin line from the turbo intake to the intake manifold. i just wanna be sure nothin will screw up if i block those off.

also any other suggestions of unessisary crap i can remove? my 7m is from japan so theres a factory EGR block off, i also removed the cruise control by the brake booster.

thanks guys

I haven't had one on my car for years. No problems so far. But a lot of people will say it's there for a reason, so up to you.

Peace...........

Mines been gone for 5 years, good rittens I say and guess what, it doesn't do jack shit unless you're paranoid, sure it has a purpose but it doesn't seem to matter if its there or not, odd huh???? kinda like invisible paper, do you really need it?

GOOD LUCK

You don't want to remove the charcoal canister...you either have a weenie roast waiting to happen or you took away the positive pressure in the tank. Those who advocate removing it, do NOT understand what/why it's there. It's stupid...especially since you can get a JDM canister and hide it in the wheel well under the cover.

Same applies to the EGR.

ive done some research and i can find nothing under this topic. I cant find either positive or negative gains/loss from this. Im sure designed this part for the car for a reason, but i just cant seem to find out why. ive been running my 1jz since the day i got it doesnt seem like i felt any difference in the power band, then again i never had one on so i wouldnt know. i do have a jdm charcoal canister laying around somewhere.

yeah i never could find and hard info on it but yeah it would be nice if someone could enlighten us maybe on what the fucntiopn of this contraption is?

vents the gas tank when it gets to a certain pressure....the charcoal in the canister filters the fumes as so they dont pollute so much....it is an important part of the fuel system as our systems are supposed to be under pressure at all times....that is why you hear a hiss when you unscrew your gas cap...that is a good thing....so dont remove it.....ever....no matter what some douche tells ya lol.

install it.....you wont feel a difference....you probably wont see a difference even on a dyno graph....but its an important part that has a job to do....get it back on or install one.

theres no check valve on the vent line in the tank???

i didnt know the check valve was in the charcoal canister. so without the charcoal canister the vent line is just open to the tank and fuel ie always letting gas freely evaporate. if thats the case what psi check valve do i need to put on the vent line.

There are 2 check valves: One in the charcoal canister and one in the gas cap.

http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?Section=EC&P=6

These are there to regulate flow to the charcoal canister and prevent vacuum in the tank...the fuel feeding the pump needs to be under positive pressure (2 psi iirc) to prevent cavitation. The check valves are there to make that happen.

Forget pollution!

Gasoline VAPORS are the most volatile portion of the fuel.

It takes absouletly nothing but a static discharge to ignite gasoline vapors. Yet some of the folks here are venting the tube right to the HOTTEST part of the engine... Yeah real f'ing smart!

Also it WILL, infact, affect fueling by DECREASING the pressure inside of the fuel tank which means that you can have a NEGATIVE pressure inside the tank which will make the fuel pump work harder or just plain ole lean your entire fuel mapping out.

Yeah, let's tear something out because it's ugly...

Do any of you seriously read what you write and realize how dumb you sound to anyone that knows anything about these cars?
