The charcol canister is simply a prefilter for gas tank fumes before being re-feed back into the engine. You could put one back on, or you could simply cap that line going to your tank and get a vented cap.

Doesn't really have anything to do with liking your fuel pump.

If you don't know the answer, don't give one. This is wrong and the person you are trying to give advise to knows you are wrong. Do a search on it and gain an understanding of why you are wrong.

OH for f's sake.

Jamie: Good point.
Noel: I totally agree with you wanting to run a charcoal canister. The good part about them is they're pretty much universal, as they're a simple device.
The 1JZ and Honda CC's are only examples of what people used. Spend some free time scouting the wrecking yard and I'm sure you'll find something that'll work for you.

If you find something really cool, remember, you gotta share :bigthumb:

So the check valve in the canister has nothing to do with keeping positive pressure inside the tank so the pump doesn't cavitate? Might want to take a close look at the TSRM sport before you spout off in the Tech section.

I've been dealing with this issue myself. I've scoured the salvage yards a couple of times looking for a replacement cc with a small footprint. Like IJ just mentioned, it's best to get one with the check valve already installed. I couldn't find anything with a built in check valve, but I did find one with a very small footprint. It came off of a Kia Spectra and the thing is like an egg. 2 ports, inlet/outlet, no check valve. I didn't realize it didn't have a check valve until I got home.

Solution:

I looked everywhere for a inline check valve with a 2-3lb crack pressure. They are pretty much non-existant. My research did stumble me across this however:

http://www.generant.com/ckvlv.htm

They're not easy to come by, but I ordered part# ICV-FF-125-B-V-3

I'm just going to screw on some earl NPT nipples and place the valve before the catch can inlet and run the outlet line out of the fender. I guess a catch can really isn't needed with this valve, however, it's better for the enviroment and safetly to filter the gases.

If you decide to go with a inline check valve, make sure the sealant they use with not dissolve from the gasoline fumes. That's why I went with the Viton.

quick question while you guys are talking about the charcoal canister

can you simply just take one off of the 7m and have it powder coated? i would assume it won't effect anything but i wanted to ask first

Ha! That's a good one.

I spent probably an entire day sourcing that valve. Even when I found it, I couldn't find a way to get it. Generant only sells to dealers and a minimum order is $500. The valve itself is less than $10. Most places told me it would take a few months and they would charge me $50 for the valve since that was their minimum order. I actually was able to have a local place order it for me. It's still going to run almost $30 with shipping.

Bit of a hint is a LOT of cars run check valves in the emission control lines that are fuel resistant ;)

I think from memory Hyundai's run a small CC with a check valve built in if that helps anyone.

I wouldn't as it has gasoline vapors...

What if the egr system has been capped? As in my case, all was removed except cc, prior to purchase. How will this effect my engine? on the cc the lines are there except one which i believe to be the vacuum port. What can i do in my situation, being that nothing is going back into the engine?

Holy F**King........

I'm trerrible sorry, I did in fact believe that this was the correct answer.

A simply no eric, your wrong about this, here is why. And believe it or not I would happily listen to why and actually learn from it.

The name calling, the rudness and outright hostility is completely uncalled for and complete un-nesecary.

I am sorry, I felt I did know the correct answer. I realize I did not now, but clearly I thought otherwise when I posted.

Perhaps before we become so unprofessional and all jump on the "lets get em!" bandwagon we could as a friendly community point out why someone might be in error rather than cutting them down and being very NOT friendly.

Ask anyone that I have gotten answers from anytime. I am totally open to learning and actually absorbing the information. And to top it off I'm a damn nice guy who would do pretty much anything I can to help out anyone I can even if I have just met you.

Comeon, honestly, non of you have ever been wrong before and mistakenly acting on information you believed was true? Never not once ever?

I guess I figured this community was a little better than another Supra community that seems to enjoy cutting people up more than helping others out.

I am truely and sincerly sorry bout that.

No need to be rude at all.
