Well I live in pullman, my little brother is a senior in high school and still lives at home. My car is back in spokane in my dads shop so thats where all the action happens. My dad has pretty much everything, a milling machine and a paint booth would be nice:love: but other than that. Hopefully we can get both the lifts put in once my car is done, that should make swapping the original motor back in when its built a piece of cake.

I have access to a couple mills :naughty:

If you weren't up in Spokane I would be up for helping out during the week!

Iv been wanting to organize a meet in spokane, it probably wont be for quite a while. If I ever get around to it, I think it would be fun it will depend what happens with the track, but it would be great to get some cars together somewhere and then head over to the track to make a few runs

Yeah it sounds like the track is all but gone now though.

I would have no problem going up there for a meet. I'm in Spokane every weekend the only issue for me is whether or not the Supra is up and running.

I wanted to go with the original mounts to retain as much of the "lexus ride" as possible but in the end the price just wasnt worth it. These should only be marginally stiffer and should hold up much better

Marlin Crawler FTW!

p972270_1.jpg

I found a NA in a junk yard, had a timing belt job done less than a thousand miles ago. Had the service sticker and everything. Looked like he had lost a valve retainer, cracked the head and chewed up a piston. someone had cut the timing belt to get the head off but I got the timing tensioner for a buck.

heres the engine bay after being hit with basecoat

p973265_1.jpg

p973265_2.jpg

I had to do a little sanding and some touch up on the basecoat. You can see in the top picture I didnt pick the best tape line just under the winshield cowl on the firewall. I had a pint of paint basecoat that the prev owner said was left from when the car was painted. It ended up coming out a little darker than the original paint. It could either be an extra pint he had mixed & the pigments were mixed incorrectly or the paint settle so much in the past 6 years that the shaker couldnt even remix it properly. I had to wetsand the tape line down smooth and reshoot it along with a few other areas. Heres what it looks like after its been hit with a few coats of clear.

Thats the plan, I think Luis is going to come up to help me drop it in. I will still have a few things left to do after its in like finish fabbing ic pipes, and put the front end back together but it should be done in time. Im cutting a few corners such as holding off on ceramic & powdercoating to make it to centrailia but I figure I cant take care of all the finerdetails in a few months when Im done rebuilding my motor.

Great, so we'll see you in Centralia?

Duane

Yea you will, even if i have to tow him.

Ryan, i should be able to head up this weekend hopefully get the engine put in and set up ready to fire. I have my own tools w/ me so we can stay more organized and not fight over the 12mm everything. I forgot to bring that extra U-bend, next time when i go home to get my car i'll bring it down for you.

The wiring harness is on for the most part.

p979826_1.jpg

This motor is an 88 so I had to change one or two of the clips to put it on this motor. I have a guy who has another 5spd harness he wants to get rid of so I think Ill pick that up so when I go to swap back I can have a harness on the my original motor and ready to go in
p979826_2.jpg

The one that was on the motor was pretty trashed. All the injector clips were gone along with one or two other clips. It was for an auto so it wouldnt have been of much use anyways

Me and Louis put in a lot of hours this weekend. We stopped and saw justin on our way through spokane and attemped to sort out his maft pro issues.(well Luis did, I watched and wondered why his car sounds like a Subaru :greddy:)
We didnt get started untill five or six on friday and had our work cut out for us.

Finished up the wiring and put the plugs, coilpack, and wires on
p986678_1.jpg

Put the upper intake back on and hooked up the vacumelines and remaining sensors. We also had to swap another connection that differed between the 88 motor and 89 harness and had to reattach another that we pulled off in the process of putting the intake on. Luckily I had a spair with 8in of lead.
p986678_2.jpg

Swaped the boss for the superior ct26 :sarcasm:
p986678_3.jpg

Put the MKIV mounts on
p986678_4.jpg

Got the flywheel on, locktited and torqued.
p986678_5.jpg

All that took quite a while due to the fact I had all these parts bagged and boxed up, so it took some digging. It doesnt look like all that much work from the pics but thats in part because we were so busy I forgot to take very many pictures. By this time it was about 2 in the morning and then we hit our major road block. After putting the flywheel on I realized this motor was an auto, why I didnt realize this would be a problem when we were taking off the kick down linkage I dont know but the crank had no imput shaft nose bearing!
p986678_6.jpg

So we did what we could that night in the engine bay, putting the cuise an misc sensors in and called it quits around 3:15.
p986678_7.jpg

Not bad exept I had to get up at 4 to go to work. So I slept for 45 min when to work, got off around 9 and picked up the bearing and some vac line. We got back to work around 11 put the clutch, tranny ect on. Motor tipped the lift almost killing luis you know the usuall.

lone and behold by the end of the day
ITs IN!
p986678_8.jpg

p986678_9.jpg

Got all the wiring, fuel lines, driveshaft, ect hooked back up. This went pretty smooth other than having to swap alternators because the studs were different sizes.
p986678_10.jpg

p986678_11.jpg

I opted to stick with the stock oil system for now as I dont have all the lines for my full flow/ relocation kit. Ill get it all figured out an put it in when I swap motors again in a few months. I am using a better cooler than stock though.
sm_photo_missing.jpg

Picked up a spair pan and some fresh injectors from just for a great price thanks buddy.
p986678_12.jpg

So all thats left now is to mount the oil cooler and run lines, hook up the ps resivor and finish fabricating the intercoolerpipes. I am hoping I can finish all of these things up the weekend of the 19th. So it looks like shes GOING TO CENTRAILIA!!!

Thanks again luis for all your help, you saved my ass this weekend
