I was thinking about my cell phone earlier because it seems that these days I am the only person who doesn't surf the internet with a touch screen. So I got curious and started this thread:

What kind of phone do you have, and how long have you had it?

For myself, I have a Pantech Breeze, and have had it for right at 3 years now.
I tell everyone how much it sucks when they ask, but now that I realize how it has survive this much abuse, I'm kinda impressed.

Get an android phone, I would suggest an htc phone and either the thunderbolt or droid incredible 2.

I've got a dinc 1 (droid incredible) and love it. I've rommed it and rooted the phone. Basically removed all the bullshit the vender adds to their phones that make them sluggish. I'm waiting for a dual core tegra htc phone to come out. I would suggest staying away from motorola as they lock their boot loaders. Which means you can't do much with them.

I have a Droid X that has been pretty good to me. I abuse the hell out of it and its never had a cover and hardly has a scratch. On the other hand i have seen countless iphones break even from a 2 foot drop.

I've got an HTC Aria for personal use and a Blackberry Torch for business.

I had an iPhone3 for personal prior to that, and everything the iPhone did, the Android phone does better IMO.

I currently have a HTC Evo. It is the first phone I bought that is not just a phone. Over all it has been great to me with no real issues.

I have a mytouch 3g slide that I rooted (hacked) and am running cyanogenmod 7 which is a port of the latest android version 2.3 (gingerbread).

Going to replace it soon with a mytouch 4g slide when it's releases in July

My phone history:

Motorola c520 (BRIIIICK!) (1998)
Nokia 3310
Nokia 8210
Nokia 8110
Nokia 3210 (2004)
Nokia 7110 (2004)
Sony Ericsson T610 (2004 -2005)
Sony Ericsson K700i (2005 - 2006)
Siemens SF65 Flippy Twisty (2006, on loan for a few weeks)
Sony Ericsson K750i (2006 - 2008)
Sony Ericsson K800i (2008 - 2010)
HTC Dream / T-Mobile G1 (2010 - Present) <- unlocked and using it on O2 Pay-as-you-Go

I've never had a contract, only ever had pay-as-you-go, and only three SIM cards, One2One (which later became O2), T-Mobile (which was dismal) and O2 again...which i really, really like as a provider :)

I don't really use my current HTC as a smartphone, aside from the occasional crossword. I never browse the internet on it, because the screen is too small, and i get eyestrain. Not to mention i've totally disabled mobile data (unless connected to WiFi).

I guess i just don't see a need to be continually connected to the internet, if i'm out, i'm out, and i only take my phone with me 50% of the time, and i only do that in case of an emergency.

I have a Samsung Omnia at the moment. It's been ok, but comparing it to the wife's iPhone, it comes up drastically short. That's what I get for sticking with Microsoft and buying a windows phone, I guess... no market share means apps are hard to come by.

I'll make certain I try Android before I upgrade my phone the next time.

Blackberry Storm 2. Had it for about 3 months. Very happy with it, no problems. Previously had iphone 3 and 4. Didn't like it that much, they kept freezing on me for no reason even with all the updates.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S/Vibrant from T-Mobile and LOVE it. It's my first smartphone but I've played with others (including an iPhone3 and HTC Incredible), and there are some things I really like about this one - like the 16GB of internal storage. :)

I've had the HTC Inspire through AT&T now for a few months and I love it. And I haven't had any issues with it yet either (knock on wood.)

I'v got the Samsung Galaxy S 4G from T-mobile. I would have prefered the 3G as it had the 16 gig of memory on the phone instead of an SD card, but they didn't carry it any more at the local store. First smart phone I've had. I was very hesitant to jump on the smartphone bandwagon due to the data plans being so spendy, but the galaxy was the first one I've seen that actually impressed me. After that my *BUY IT NOW* urge kicked in. The AMOLED screen is amazing. I suppose I should have waited for the Galaxy 2 this summer, but with the motoactiv dying every day with no use, I had to upgrade.

Previous phones are Motorola Motoactiv and some old samsung from 8 years ago. The first samsung lasted a LONG time. The motorola started eating battery life like crazy, even on new batteries.

BTW just because you have a 4G phone does not = you've got 4G network, so be prepared for that and check the 4G coverage areas.

got a samsung rugby after destroying several sony phones. I have dropped the phone two stories onto a concrete floor covered in 3 inches of water, phone never missed a beat. Its outside all day every day, rain snow etc. takes it all. Fuck i even shower with the phone (for music).
Hats off to samsung.
