I double checked all the connectors in the back of the gauge cluster. I've taken it out twice now, once to change the lights to LEDs and once to make sure all the plugs were in, all the female connectors had a male one in it. And there werent any extra male plugs. The problem happened since I bought the car in Dec. When I was messing with the headlight switch, the lights flashed on the climate control. I've used the pre 89 climate control and a 89+ climate control with an LED conversion. They both have the same problem. It lights up when the lights arent on tho.

Brand new accordian hose from Horse Power Freaks

I have a few parts coming on Friday, i'll post pics that night. Gettin closer to gettin this bitch on the road. Just need a drive shaft, hook up the intercooler and piping, put the new slave cylinder and hardline on, and bleed the clutch.

Something that may be of some concern, when I started it today with the AFM hooked up, it started smoking from the half a downpipe it has, lol. Didn't smell sweet, it just smelled like exhaust.

2.5" IC pipes with a TiAL BOV adapter with two 2.5" to 2.25" reducers.
2536623_59_full.jpg

On Tuesday next week I'll be getting my TiAL BOV. I need a driveshaft. I found one in Miami but the guy wants $150 and I'm not looking to spend that much. But if I can't find one soon I'll give in and go buy it. I'll put the intercooler and the piping on tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

Thanks :icon_bigg

In all honesty, I just wanted to get the car on the road. I did clean up most of the dirt on the engine with brake clean and visually inspected all of the hoses and vacuum lines on it. Everything seemed fine. And it turns out it was. And as for not cleaning the engine bay, the same reason above applies. I just wanted to get the car running. But also, I have something planned for the engine bay. Some people will like it and some will flame. But bring it on, lol. It won't happen for quite some time tho unfortunately for me. As of now, I won't have a place to keep the car if I decide to pull my engine to do my forged build. So as soon as I find a place to keep the car, preferably for free, I will pull the engine and do the rebuild running or not.

Thanks Jayson, I think I have the problem pegged, its not in the unit itself. I think theres a problem with the switch on the column. At least I hope so. I'm 100% sure its not the unit you made for me because it does it with the CC that was already on the car when i bought it. If its not the switch, then its the dash wiring, which i REALLY dont want to deal with. I'm terrible at wiring.

And please someone let me know if this is the death whine, someone has to know.

1 step forward 2 steps back. All is well with the turbo. It's not dying like I thought it was. Just a whistle coming out of the IC pipe. When I was putting the accordian hose back on the ISC hose broke. And when I went to look for some reducers for the intercooler, no one knew what the hell i was talking about. A guy at AutoZone actually took me to the Silicone Sealant area of the store. And at another "performance" shop, I asked "how much is a 2.5" to 2" silicone reducer for aluminum intercooler piping?" (those were my exact words) and he said $62. WTF? lol. Anyway, it looks like DM will be getting another order from me.

O and thanks TealMetallicDream.

Another new part :icon_bigg

2536623_62_full.jpg

I put the new slave cylinder and hardline in earlier today and replaced the broken ISC hose with a piece of 5/8" heater hose. I have a driveshaft on the way. I also hooked up the speedo cable and put my boost gauge in. I just shoved it into the ashtray slot for now. So now all thats left is hooking up the IC piping and the driveshaft. And then it's on the road.

Ok, well I got all the intercooler piping on, the blow off valve hooked up, the driveshaft on, and fluid in the transmission. I went to hook up the clutch and realized I had to get a new rubber hose that is a Toyota only part. So that ended my fun because I swore to myself that today would be the day it drove. So now all I do is sit in the car, rev it, and pretending like I'm driving. It's sad. :3d_frown: . I had to buy a new battery also cuz my last one was dead. On another note, I got all my dash lights working. It was the stupid dimmer switch. I had an extra one laying around. Although I could've sworn I changed it. It looks pretty bad ass at night with all red. I'll take a pic and post it here.

I guess I hooked up my boost gauge wrong because it's not reading boost. I'll fix that another day tho.

Well, tomorrow I should get the short rubber clutch line tomorrow. And if I do, I'll definitely have the car on the road. A couple more pics.

Red dash LEDs. Some of the lights look dim but I can assure you they are all mighty bright. But like some have said, you can't see where the redline starts. O well. We all know where it is anyway, lol. And the picture makes some of the climate control lights look orangish but they are red also.

And a picture of the upper intercooler pipes and TiAL BOV. Since I didn't hook up the power steering I took out the reservoir.

Car is officially on the road now. It has a couple of vacuum leaks and it's throwing a code 14. So i need to fix that. It idles a little rough but thats ok it stays running. I've driven a little over 200 miles now on the new engine. I've loved every minute of it.

The first day I drove it, I had the wastegate shimmed to 10-11 psi. It ended up blowing up the coupler between the 3000 pipe and the TB. Which turned it into a boost leak. It felt like what some people on here described as fuel cut so I took out the shims to put it at stock boost. It still did it, so I retightened my intercooler pipes and still had the same problem. So I stepped back to look at the whole engine and i noticed the coupler was split all the way down the side. So I cut up a foxbody mustang's accordian hose and I'm using that for now. I'm about to order a new coupler.

I switched out the steering wheel to an 89 (which is much more comfortable than the 86-88) along with 89+ taillights. I only have a pic of the taillights right now. I've also replaced the spark plugs which I gapped to .32 and I replaced the spark plug wires.

I'll have pics of the steering wheel tomorrow. I'm thinking about buying some sound deadening material. I'm not worried about weight so it doesn't matter how much weight it adds. Once I get the sound deadening material, i'll start to redo my interior. I'm also getting the drivers side window motor fixed on Saturday. It was a bitch to pull out so I'm using a hook up and having someone at the dealership to do it for free. :biglaugh:

Well a couple of things happened today. I was on my way to the dealership to get my window motor put in and about 3 mins away from the place my temp needle started going up higher than it should be. My first thought was BHG SHIT! So i pulled into the dealership jumped out of the car and looked under the hood to see what was going on. My overflow reservoir was boiling and spitting fluid out. I checked the oil for water and coolant, nothing there. Thank god. So I let it cool and opened the radiator and it turns out the radiator was clogged. The radiator wasn't even warm except for the top. So now it's sitting at the dealership with 3 other supras. 2 white 89+ turbo targas and a MKIV TT. The guys that work there own them. I'm getting a new fan shroud, getting the system flushed, and new heat shields. Problem is I don't have any cars now, so I'm driving the girlfriends Jeep Wrangler around since she doesn't like to drive. The DD is at CarMax getting fixed and now the Supra needs to get fixed. Oh well. Shit happens. If I had a BHG I'd have mixed feelings. I'd kinda like it because I'd do my forged build a little sooner than I thought, but I'd hate it because I wouldn't be able to drive it for a long time again.

Shitty!
When are you getting it painted ;)?
I've got a Koyo OEM replacement that's a dual core up for sale if you're interested!
There's also a koyo race radiator group buy going on in the group buy section btw.

Thanks for the hope Ian, I'm hoping everything is ok too, lol.

Thanks for the offer Kyle, I'll look into it if my radiator is too far gone. I might need one because it looked pretty damn clogged in there. I'm surprised I didn't think to check the inside of the radiator when I first put it in.

I'm getting the car painted as soon as I get 89+ trim, bomex sideskirts, and a gracer bumper. I have the bomex rears just sitting in a corner in my room along with a sunshade and turn signal covers. The paint job and body work is free so as soon as I get them it's going to the paint shop :naughty:.

I have a job interview next week sometime. So if I get the job, I'll buy the sideskirts, trim, and bumper right away. Then it's time for some upgrades. I'll probably get the rest of the fuel system which is some RC 680cc injectors an aeromotive a1000 fuel pump. I already have an aeromotive pressure regulator and a LIPP high flow fuel rail.

I may get a few things powdercoated as well. I have an extra set of N/A valve covers that I want to try out a color scheme on. I'll also probably get the LIPP fuel rail powdercoated black or red. Not sure yet.

Thats gonna look sick, I've always liked that dark green color. I applied for a job at Car Max. So I'll be making some decent money if I get the job. So after the first paycheck, I'll start ordering some more parts. I'll probably buy the gracer bumper later this month. I've been doing a few odd jobs around here. Like a little land scaping where my parents work, some pressure cleaning, etc...

And please if someone has a good coil pack, 89+ trim (preferably white to match the tail light trim), a good set of 89+ turn signals, or the rubber shift boot that bolts to the chassis PM me.

Ok, some updates and a few new parts. My radiator was bad. It was clogged beyond a flush. So I had to buy a new OEM one. It will probably be for sale sometime soon as I do want to upgrade the cooling system. They got the heat shields on and they are waiting for the new radiator and putting that in with the fan shroud. I asked if I could do an inspection on the car to see what I missed and tighten bolts and they told me to come down tomorrow as it should be ready. So I'll be able to do a much better inspection of things because I'll have access to a lift and better tools. I told him to try to track where the Code 14 is coming from. I tracked it back to the coil pack and I just want him to verify. I got a coil pack and as soon as I get the car back I'll put that on.

I also ended up buying a new shifter bushing and socket from Marlin Crawler (I was under the impression that it was white?)
p588738_1.jpg

I also bought a 2.75" coupler for my 3000 pipe to TB so I can take off the cut up mustang hose off. And I also bought the rubber shift boot that connects to the chassis from Mike (too_stand). He is an awesome seller.

Anyway, I've been without a car since Friday. I've been using my girlfriends Jeep to get from my house to school and thats it. My daily driver is in for repairs. The rear struts needed to be replaced, the door lock actuator needed to be replaced, and the window motor and regulator needed to be replaced. Damn Hyundais, thank god for warranties.

Anyway, that's about it. Tomorrow when I get it back I'll try to get the sunshade on it, put the Marlin Crawler bushings in, put the new coilpack in, put the rubber shift boot on it, put the silicone coupler on for the 3000 pipe to TB, and turn the boost back up to 10 psi.
