WELCOME TO MY OBSESSION

I'm a little anxious to get this thing going. I'm restoring my '87 Supra before I start to make modifications. I started with the interior. I did a color change in the interior. It started out as grey and I changed it to black/red. And excuse some of the photos because they were taken with my phone.

Completely stock grey interior before I started.

This one is of my old door panels. I covered the insert with black vinyl and red stitching. But I ended up getting new ones and redoing the whole thing.

Dash is painted black along with the red air vents. I didn't really finish painting the air vents red. Theres still a few spots on it that are still black.

This is the armrests in the backseat. You can see the original color and then the black.

These are the new door panels (thanks to tomjan87) in the middle of the color change....

And after the color change.....

This is the rear quarter panel window thingy, whatever it's called. Lol

This is the center console and armrest that I recovered with black vinyl and red stitching w/ extra foam. It was well worth it. It's much more comfortable that it was.

This is the new carpet compared to the old one.

Almost completed interior. I need to get new seats or recover the ones I have in black.

And I put new red LED's in my gauges and key ring. The lights in the gauges are kind of dull because the battery wasnt charged. I did it while the engine was blown so the battery wasnt charged because I left the lights on for a few days.

Thats all for now. I will update when I get more things done. I'm ordering a new 7M-GTE w/ an R154 tranny in a few months. I'll get some more pics when I put all of the interior back in.

I really like the red light mod, thats how my bimmer is stock and I love it. So far on the supra I've only done the climate control in red. And l like the black dash also!

Thanks. I need some comments on my mods. Ian said something about getting different cams on another thread. But I havent really started looking for any yet. And now I'm workin extra hours at my job so I can buy the engine faster so I can start the rebuild. I'm listing everything I'm going to buy to "finish" the car. But everyone knows that Supras are never finished. My goal is 550-600HP with a full interior, A/C, and powersteering. Just want to make it a really "fun" weekend car. I will not drive it hard until a ricer kid comes by me revving his/her engine. Then blow by them. And if its a girl I'll get her number cuz I'm smooth like that. I'm aiming to "finish" it in the Summer of 07.

I used Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric spray paint for everything. I took out all of the interior except for the dashboard and headliner because i was too lazy and didnt want to deal with it. I painted the dash and headliner while it was still in the car, needless to say I lost a few braincells. But its not like I did it with the doors closed lol. I cleaned everything with water and then alcohol. Gave it 3-6 coats. Alternating in one direction and then in the other with very light coats. The first coat is just sprinkled on. It hardly covers at all but by the 3rd coat its very well covered and quite dark.

I think I found new seats to put into it. It's the ones that come in the GT V6 Tiburons. Its black with red stitching and whatnot. Problem is they have airbags in them. Which will make them big money to get. So if they come without airbags I might pick up a pair. If they do then I'll just say forget it and recover my seats. I was thinking microfiber lol. But that would be crazy expensive.

These are them.....

Very comfortable and feel very well made. Since I work at an oil change place I get to test out a lot of seats while driving the cars into the bays. :biglaugh:

Thanks tomjan.

Well, I called a few dealerships. A Q45 TB w/ TPS is $598. GT V6 Tiburon driver and passenger seats are $3000. And I also like the new Mazda3 seats. They are very comfortable and stylish. They are $1500 for both. So the Mazda3 seats are a definitely a possibility. But they are ungodly heavy because of the airbag system they put in it.

Casey, did you mention where you got the carpet? Im thinking of changing my burgundy carpet to black... And personally, I think what you're doing is great... The interior looks great and the motor mods look like yur gunna be up there with the big dawgs! Congrats!

Edit: As for the seats, have your stockers re-upolstered... Would probably save you alot of money... And for the Q45 throttle body, buy a used one... I wanna say I paid $150 for mine...

I got the carpet at 1AAuto.com. I want the stockers re-upholstered but I'm just considering my choices. And I was just curious as to how much a new throttle body was. I hope I can find a TB at or around the same price. And yea, I'm trying to get up there with the big dawgs. Lol. Trying to be the youngest guy to break 500HP. :biglaugh: Just turned 19. Lol. Only about a month away from buying the new motor with absolutely no money out of Daddys pocket for this entire project.

And guys, dont be afraid to tell me what you like or dislike. I dont take anything personally. I'm still figuring out what I want to do as I go exterior and interior-wise. I like what Red Dragon did with the gauges and I might just do what he did. My goal is to make the car look like its nonturbo. No IC showing (which is why I'm getting the air/water IC), no badges, etc...

And this might be a long shot. But does anyone have a pic, or seen a pic, of a supra with 89+ tails with bomex under covers and a sunshade on the hatch without a wing?

Well, I think its cool that you're willing to take constructive critisism, and have thick skin to hendle people not liking your ideas... HOWEVER: I have to say I think Mike's blunt "shit" comment was a little harsh and could've been a little more tactful in his approach about his distaste of your idea... No one likes everything, but there are certainly ways to approach it that are a little less hard and more sensative to the recipients feelings...

As for your interior, you're on the right track with looking at different options... Check out B2's thread, his interior is absolutely georgous! This is how I want to do my seats! http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18215

Good luck on your build... Hang in there and dont get discouraged!

I really like his seats also. I hope (if i go the route of reupholstering my seats) that it comes out like that. I might have found a local place that will reupholster my seats for $600.

Nothing can discourage me. I WILL finish this project no matter how long it takes me. Lol. But I'm still aiming for it to be done by the end of Summer '07.
