Duane I really wish you started making parts again :(

Well, I would but I enjoy doing what I do now. Besides, I sold most of the molds to a guy in Cali. If he is up to making them, he may be able to make something but I haven't seen his work yet. Again, I only sold him the molds a couple of months ago.

well then give me a part that they could make that people really would want. The louvers?give me soMe ideas. and I can get VIS to make them

Personally I wouldn't get VIS to make them...I think their hoods suck (the ones I've seen) I would suggest getting a company that does high end cars, Porsche, etc... they would not be cheap but it is what you pay when you want quality.

...Get some 89+ mouldings, remove the rubber strip, fill in the gap, sand off all the raised edges, and sand it smooth and flat like the 87-88, use that for your mockup. The best part is they would look good on 87-92.

Thats my idea, not the best but whatever. Trim and Louvers would be your best bet with the mk3 crowd. Anything else would be large and very expensive to produce, thus expensive to purchase and harder to sell to brokeass mk3 owners;) Start small (louvers, rainguards, trim, ect) small is cheeper to produce, less material, and cheep to ship.

You obviously have no idea how a molding process works. Making molds itself is not only timing consuming but pricey. Small parts may be a little cheaper but not by much. The labor is a big cost and sometimes the small tedious things can take more time than larger parts. If you look at the back of a part (the clips and how a trim piece goes on for example) you can see some of the work that will need to be done in order to make these parts fit like OEM, unless of course you want to glue these on. :sarcasm:

I just want to put out here, don't expect parts to be made for "cheap" because quality and cheap don't belong in the same sentence.

That's way too much for a strip of CF. I'd pay less than $100 plus shipping.

People like you really annoy me. You obviously have no CLUE about making parts. This is not a "cheap" process. You can get the clips from Toyota for that price. So, I suggest you do that and make the molds yourself. It's people like you that deter others from making new parts. :3d_frown:

Also hatch with no wiper hole. And finaly doors. This is the one that I want.
Dustin

Doors in CF have been available, AFAIK nobody has stepped up to dish out the $$$$ to buy them. No need to produce twice the quantity of something that already isn't selling.

The hatch is a waste of time IMO. To do it right and make a really good quality part, it will not be cheap. People are not willing to fork out the $$, ask me how I know. :) That, and the fact that the weight lies in the glass and not the hatch.
Duane

Exactly. With the fact that nobody will dish out the cash aside, do we really need to make the weight distribution on these cars even worse? Id say 99.9% of mk3 supras are front heavy, and even if you sold a proper lightweight hatch made of carbon fiber WITH a lexan rear window, you would only be making the weight distribution even worse. You would get less traction and the car would be harder to control. It would not be a beneficial piece to many users on this forum, and like Duane said I don't think hardly anybody would fork out the dough to buy it. Although if it was made correctly with a lexan window and didn't look like crap, I would be one of the few that would buy it.

Personally what I would like to see made in CF is the center console piece seen here, except without any holes cutout so each person can pick and choose where they want to put stuff:

Other people have said that piece needs to be somewhat flexible and CF would be too brittle to use for that piece. IMO all it needs is the proper clip setup or a DIFFERENT clip setup and it would be perfect.

Something like this?
sm_photo_missing.jpg

Its just an overlay so theres no issue with a mold or the PITA clips (already there on the OEM piece thats covered with CF). It might not save any weight but thats not the goal with that piece is it?

No lol weight saving is not the goal. I want one like that but with no holes cutout (No holes for the cd player deck or climate control). Since it's an overlay I imagine they could make it specifically for how the buyer wanted, for instance I would want everything covered over except the holes for the shifter and the hazards.

I would 100% be into a set of cf pre-89 QUALITY moldings.

If (BIG if) they're made, i wont hold out for a group buy price considering 99.9% of the group buys that go on around here...."I'm SO in, these are FTWLOL" ---*parts get made, time to pay up*--- "Oh, uh, I'm out now, I just BHG'd and the economy and blahblahblah.."

I would also LOVE a cf GRacer bumper with ALL the vents (including the IC vent) blocked out....but thats something that no one else would want, so i'd have to find someone to do that one-off for me.....interested Nick?? ;)
