Thats the heater control valve(for lack of a better term)...it is what lets the coolant get to the heater core for heating the interior. PM

heater core bypass valve. when you turn on your heat it opens and lets hot coolant go threw the heater core. you can bypass the heater core for temp until you get a new one or look in the for sale section or junkyards.

the two hose ends that connect to the heater control valve can be hooked together(bypassing the valve) for now until you can get another one....

Just go to home depot and get a brass coupler the right diameter. The heater valve is a 90 degree elbo, so you might want to get a 90 degree fitting to avoid twisting the hoses weirdly.

I am a local Arizonian as well. I dont know if you have seen: http://azsupracentral.com/forums/index.php?

But it is a pretty active forum and the guys are nice. I have had my heater valve bypassed for a while now, and there are no issues. There is a flapper door inside the cab that directs air in the ducts, and there is a door that blocks the heater core when the heat is off, so you dont have to worry about getting hot air in the vents when the heat is off.

If you need any help with anything hit me up im always willing to help out.

why not just get a piece of heater hose and loop it and that way you'll have a new hose in there? obvisouly it broke/ripped for a reason...

might wanna take a look at your other coolant lines.

and btw, an autoparts store sells fittings MADE for coolant... i dont know if i would want another metal like brass to be in my coolant system.

Bah, why bypass when zip-ties are your friend? I have the temp control in the car at 85, had to push the plunger all the way up, then zip-tie it in that position.

Now I have heat! :biglaugh:

Sorry Rennat but i didnt understand what u meant when u said to get a piece of heater hose and loop it, can you please explain what you meant?..and btw the only reason the hose got loose is because the heater control valve was rusted where it connected to the hose..So guys, do you think if i used the brass coupler it would have any affects on my coolent system?
