Not too long ago, I had a mechanic install another cps and my car ran fine. Then about 3 days later my car won't start; however it does crank.
I checked ohms on the coil pack and it was within specs. Igniter is good; spark plugs are fairly new (got them 2 months ago); fuses are good; fuel pump is good, and the ignition switch is good as well. I explained my situation to my mechanic and he said most likely my cps is "bad." He wasn't specific as to what exactly about the cps was bad. So I purchased yet another CPS and installed it myself this time, and my car still doesn't turn over.
I'm stumped as to what it could be. Does anyone have ideas what to what other possible problem can cause this?
Something I should mention is that according to Haynes Repair Manual, it says "turn the ignition switch to On and measure the voltage between terminal 2 and body ground with a voltmeter - it should be about 12 volts," however I got no reading at all for voltage when I did that. So I tried out terminal 1 and body ground, and it was about 12 volts for all 3 of them. So either the manual made a error or my coil is messed up. Which one is it guys?
Additionally I checked the coil primary resistance, and it was .5 ohms (within specs) for all 3 of them.
For those that want a shorter break down of what I said above:
-car is cranking but not starting
-there is no spark
-fuel pump is working
-igniter is good
-spark plugs are good
-coil pack is in uncertain condition right now (read above)
-ignition switch is good (installed brand new)
-CPS is good
Some additional info:
-1989 MK3 Supra 7mgte
-was converted to manual by previous owner
-still uses automatic ecu
-getting engine code 51. I been having this code ever since I purchased the car. The previous owner erased the codes and I was ignorant to the problems it had.
-my car doesn't have A/C
Thanks!
