Im starting to think its not the piston rings.. because while its sitting oil is getting into the cylinders.. soo oil isn't going to leak upwards.. i wouldnt think..lol. seems more likely to be the valve stem seals leaking oil down in there while its sitting.. most of the smoke comes out at start up. Is my thinking correct? Another thought to add.. someone was following behind me and said they noticed the smoke coming out when i would shift gears.
Wow a genius must have told you that one...my vote is valve seals...since the boss turbo is brand new i dont think it would have any seal problems...

this is getting redundant!

+1 START TESTING!

Do a compression test dry then wet. <---very simple, the TSRM will give you the exact instructions to follow. This doesnt take long and then you can start crossing things off the list of could be's.

It is possible to change valve seal w/o removing the head (not sure with 7M). By pressurizing the combustion chamber with a leak down tester while the engine is at TDC for each cylinder. Doing this will stop the valves from falling into the combustion chamber when keepers are removed from stem. I know of someone who did this and managed to get it done (he is hella ghetto I might add) :nono:

Ok. I stand corrected on "HAVING" to remove the head to replace the valve stem seals. BUT...if a valve drops in...you're definitely pulling the head. ;)

I wouldn't do it without pulling the head; but, if it can be done, I can see it saving a LOT of work!

Why is compressed air needed?

Pressurizing each cylinder with the piston at TDC allows the valves to stay closed so you can replace the valve stem seals without removing the head.

Come on...you need us to come and do the work for you? There is only so much that can be done over the internet, especially seeing as "facts change every post".
If you can't figure it out by now, or do the work, take it to a mechanic.

Are you referring to me?

You guys keep calling it reduntant yet im the one who stopped posting for a while..lol. I know the work as to start the guessing has to stop. Im getting ready to head home, so i should get a compression test done this evening or tomorow morning. Most likely tomorow morning when the engine is cold.. seeing how thats when the smoking takes place. As for the catch can, im almost 100% certain it is set up correctly.. But someone mentioned something about the air filter.. Right now my car doesnt have an air filter, its got a couple layers of tight mesh. This is temporary i will be getting an air filter when i find one that fits properly. So, maybe my catch can isn't collecting anything because my intake is to free flowing?? and theres not enough vaccuum going through the catch can and to the valve covers?

the lines go from the valve covers to the catch can to the turbo intake. So you guys really think its the valve stem seals rather than the rings or turbo? And no i dont think the valve stem seals got replaced when the motor was built..

Confusing no? ;)

hmmm I must of missed that, thanks jetjock.

But so were clean, it goes from the valve covers to a "T" one end goes to pre turbo, other end goes to catch can then to the throttle body, correct?

valve stem seals...... i think the hardest thing to do is getting those retainer things to slide back in place >_<

Small electronics blade screwdriver and white grease, works great for re-installing retainers. No fingers to get hit if spring pops out of compressor either.
