I'm not going to get into this, as it's way too much into the "my dick is bigger than yours" territory.

To answer the OP's question, you can try the parts store fan clutch as it's the N/A style (but they specify it for both, which is dumb). I had tons of issues (overheating, top hose expanding, ect), and went through and changed damn near everything in the cooling system. Most of it was FINE, the parts that were really bad was the top hose and the fan clutch.

BUT, I know that everything is in working order, and I have a larger system that will handle more heat for when I want to upgrade. We all know that our engines are long and all it takes it one overheat to warp the hell outta the head...

Thanks for the reply. How was the top hose bad/what was wrong with it? And what exactly is considered an "overheat" that can warp the head? 220 degrees? 250?

As you should know, any decent pressure hose has nylon threads in it to support it. Without it, it's just a rubber balloon (and will act as such). You should see when I went to Austin in the hill country cruise and had to put loads of zip ties around the top hose to keep it from ballooning. I have samco hoses now and they'll take WAY more abuse than any rubber hose...

The point where you overheat to the point of failure isn't too cut and dry, so that would be a question for the experts...

why would a hose that expands cause cooling issues? My upper hose does look more expanded when hot than it does stone cold, but im pretty sure that is normal. Its not big and bulging

why get re certified ? only needed at time to work on a/c when they switched to 134 and needed cert to by r12.. boss asked if i would take test.. if he paid.. i said sure.gave me check and i went and took test.. did not Ace it.. but passed ... and for not studying i felt i did good..

The funny thing about that statement is it is no good towards a certification to work with R12 freon. There is a totaly seperate program for the license to work with R12/22.

P/S eather of you... Jub or you jet ever been certified in heating and air ?

First off I *am* older than you by a fair bit. More than 10 years. Have some respect for your elders sonny.

After that last post I've developed enough sympathy to let this die without posting my credentials but yes, I'm EPA 609 MVAC certified. Big deal. A 609 cert can be gotten online using an open book test and $20. I also have 608 Universal. Try getting one of those. Bottom line is you really don't want to tangle with me about HVAC of any kind.

And if you think I'm only book smart you're in for some embarrassment. I'm smart in many ways. The only thing I can't figure out is why guys like you are inevitably from Florida...
