Can you use a 1986 7mgte ecu with a 1992 7mgte motor??

hey guys my ecu is bad and i wanted to know if i could just use a 1986 ecu from a 7mgte 5 speed with my 1992 7mgte 5 speed?
i have an extra ecu from a 86 so before i go buy one i wanted to see if the setup could work
please let me know and if i cant tell me where i can find one

There is no such thing as a 1986 7M-GTE, and, by extension, no such ECU. The 7M-GTE wasn't available until 1987.

well sory im not a master mechanic hence the reason y im on here man chill....but anyways can you use any year 7mgte ecu with a 92 7mgte as long as it 5 speed

87-88 is a yellow plug harness to ecu. 89-92 is a grey plug harness to ecu. So the answer is no.
