I am doing this right now :). It takes some modification but yes its possible.
Also you'll more then likely want an aftermarket Gearset as the lowest you can get stock is 3.73 and the V160 has a very different gearset then W58s or r-154s. 3.53 and 3.06 are both available aftermarket and will fit the MKIII pumpkin.

Also your shifter will not be in quite the same location.

Johnysupra, where at in Michigan are you? I would love to stop by sometime to take a look at the swap first hand!

What modifications are needed because I have a 6 spd that I got from work and I would love to stick it in my car!!

IIRC you'll have to modify your tranny tunnel and make it larger, am I right Jonny?

Yeah pretty much, its not that the V160 is much larger with a W-58 or an R-154, but it doesn't taper down at the tailhousing. its pretty much a big square. So the tunnel just needs to be persuaded to like the new tranny with a hammer.

Don't forget the JZ part to :) 2JZ FTW!!

I second that. Sean says it was an easy install and not hard to shift at all.

yea it was fairly easy. but i have the resources to make it a easy swap. one of the hardest parts was making the shifter cage to work.. i have a 3.73 rear end in there now, and to me it wasnt much of a difference from the 5spd.

im glad i went with the 6spd since i will no longer have clutch/tranny problems.

i just got a 3.54 gearing from Jawsgear to put in mine, so it should be a little better. he may have more, you will have to contact him..

here are a few pics...

That all depends how tall you are. i am 6'1 and i felt like i was reaching way out for the W58 shifter. But if your short it might be an issue.

Truth be told :biglaugh:, 6' 4" here
