That "fuzz" is an air filter...there is no vac line to the dashpot.

One look at the TSRM would have told you that...it might be a good idea to start reading it ;)
(just a novel idea)

Maybe other things are being over looked. Could be as simple as your plug gap. now that would cause a bad idle for sure. Dropping a plug even while its still in the box can close up the gap. Ive been there done that hahah

sory it took so long to get back to this, but i have been working on it alittle at a time. my wife is geating ready to have a baby and time is not mine. so i work on my baby at night:cry:
what has been done on check list:
put new gaskets on TB, ISC, valve covers.
installed safc2 and took out safc1, (forgot to hook up blue wire to vf, dam!)
installed treadstone IC and synapse bov. (no boost leaks found)
checked all sparkplug gaps. (all were @ .28)
recalibrated tps, (but safc2 is reading on WOT @ 3.45V) should it be @ 3v?
put new ground on coilpack
set timing to 8* ( so i will be safe to tune the safc)
have not attempted to fix the leaking seal on the CPS, but its next!

when i stared the car today it ran good, and then as it warmed up and the A/f"s where rising from 14.5 it started to idle worse and worse untill i thaught the car was going to die. i turned it off and went for an inspection under the hood, but found nothing out of order. The A/F"s reached about 16.8 and would blink into the 17.0"s then i would shut it down.

i unplugged the oem o2 sensor and it seem to run fine when the A/F"s were @ 13.8 to 14.3. but then the A/F"s whould rise again. a can do some video footage of the cold start to warm up, or what ever you think will help you get a better idea of what i need to try next.

i live in so cal, Temecula ca. if there is anyone out there that can help me work on my car let me know. i will drive anywere from SD, to LA. let me know!

I damn well hope so! Did it run any better at all after you timed it?

I have checked for vacuum leaks.. replaced my TB and ISCV gaskets. Had my base fuel pressure at about 40psi(vac off) also.. Tried different AFM electronics and so on. None of that helped.

As far as a leaky CPS, I just threw some hi-temp gasket maker on it. Its not hard to remove/clean up and no more dripping oil!

Im just worrried about lining every thing back up on the cps. but i will get it done.
it did run great for awhile, but it loves to idle lean for some reson. what"s your safc neo read on sensor check for throttle volts. @ wot and is it at zero when you have your foot off the gas?

When my car acted like that it ended up being the tb gasket. I couldn't hear the leak. I got lucky I was looking at something under the hood and put my hand on the tb and was able to hear it then. Good luck, it kinda sounds like a leak. It is a pain in the ass to find them sometimes

where is the wideband sensor located? are there any leaks up stream of it?

the wideband is located behind the stock oem sensor. I dont think there are any leaks up stream. But lets say the down pipe was leaking, would that cause it to idle ruff and low?

one more thing, i want to hook up the blue wire, which wire do i tap into?

thanks grim

what does your fuel pressure hit when it is idling like crap?

i set the afpr @ 28psi and when it idles like crap it stays @ 28psi. i try and rise it to 30 and then to 32psi with no change so i bring it back down to 28psi

on the pinout description, middle column, 5th one from the top. You'll have to find it on your year specfic ecu though, dont know the pre-89's layout.

ok thanks. is it the THW water temp sensor? can you give me the symbol for it.
so i just finished reading over the tread you made about your idle and lean problem. have you fixxed the issue or is it still runnunig the same? i realy feel they could have some of the same issues.

just check the iscv per tsrm and the first test checked out, but the second test did not.
when I put positive power to b1-b2 and repeatedly ground s1 s2 s3 s4, it did not move. the i reversed the order and it still did not move.

it looks to be stuck open. letting all air pass by.

could this be the problem?

Are you sure it didn't move? The first time I did this test I thought it wasn't moving. Then I realized that it moves ever so slightly, barely noticeable. The ISCV doesn't affect idle quality only idle speed. no matter where the ISCV sets itself the air it bypasses is still metered and appropriate fuel is added.

Was there anything you changed or anything you modified at or around the time your idle became an issue. Anything at all even if it's not related.
