Got a 1J right now, and I'm debating on whether to build up the 1J, or to just build a 2J from the ground up. My goals are 600 RWHP/ 600 RWTQ with minimal lag. I'd like to keep this car as a mainly road course car, hence the low lag requirement. Ideally I'd like to stick with a twin-turbo setup. I'm currently pushing 297 RWHP/ 271 RWTQ. I know my stock twins are on their way out.

Who makes aftermarket pistons and rods for the 1J? I know I could build a custom twin-turbo setup that could give me 600 RWHP, using what turbo's I have no clue. No matter what motor I go with, I will be going with a stand-alone ECU.

All input is welcome. Current mods are AEM TRU boost guage/controller pushing 13 pounds of boost, Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump, Aeromotive FPR, Koyo aluminum radiator, full 3" exhaust with no cat, Apexi SAFC NEO, and a 1-piece 11 pound aluminum driveshaft (yes, I know I will need to get a beefier driveshaft when I push more power).

Well one of the more common ways to gain power and have quicker spool is to increase displacement, so 2JZ all the way.

I'm just thinking what would give me the most bang for my buck. I was leaning more towards the 2J. I think now I will go 2J. As far as my background in racing goes, I really don't have any. But I like the challenge that road course racing offers. I think I will go 2J. My car is already almost fully upgrades suspension wise. Just needs a few more things that aren't too bad for pricing.

If your tuner knows what he is doing the 1jz can make that power and make it race worthy. If skylines can kick the crap out of Supras on the track and so can the SR20's why can't anyone say the 1jz can do it? Most of the power is in the head and tunning, nobody likes to think of that.

My tuner has a 2.6 RB26 that makes 900 RWHP and 890 FT lbs or torque! I dont see many 3.0 liter 2jz's making that kind of even power and torque.

Really meow? What kind of setups do you offer for internals Jose? Specs?

BTW, you ever going to update your website?

Website is being work on, you just can't see it lol! I'm building three JZ's right now with kaizen goodies. I don't want to spill the beans right now, I rather test it and use it for racing before we make false claims on our products.

best reply I've seen all day.. I specifically chose my 1J for the road racing class I'll be competing in.

Another thing about the 2jz is that it will require you to enter a class with bigger displacement cars, like Vipers, and other big block cars. Staying 2.5 will be easier if you are new at road racing and keep you with cars that are similar in displacement.

EXACTLY.. you hit the nail square on the head, thats exactly what I was getting at and probably the biggest reason I chose the motor.
