Looks great Jeff! Didn't realize that you were going all-out on this car, at first as I was reading (found this today) I thought it would just be engine work, this looks awesome!

What's that paint? It looks like it's changing hues at different angles...is it really or is that just something your camera is doing?

How much is a TRD widebody kit? All this looks so expensive...I can't imagine ever affording a build such as this...

Things escalate quickly it seems, haha.

Paint is Quicksilver FX (1B9) it is mostly uniform colour, but it does have more depth than the Alpine Silver (199) the car was previously, looks even nicer in real life. I've found while Quicksilver does look pretty good in pics, seeing it in real life does it way more justice.

The body kit is the TRD made-in-Japan replica from MVP Motorsports. The fit and finish of it (especially for a fibreglass kit) is outstanding. Fits very well indeed.

As for the costs, I didn't keep track of everything exactly (it's my brother's car, I just take care of some stuff for it ;)), but to get the kit, and get it all installed and painted, without a full colour change inside/out/engine bay, etc. I'd say you're looking at about the $10,000-12,000 range. Again, that's just kind of an estimate, some of the stuff bought didn't go on the car (Top Secret hood, etc.) plus it will vary based on who does the work, hourly rates can vary a LOT. If you find someone to do it for you separately, that may save some money as well.

Holy crap...

So including a 30-40k dollar car...a project like this is easily going to push 70 grand...isn't it? I mean keep going and there's enough money in a supra like this to purchase a pretty nice Ferrari... Well I guess plenty of people own Ferraris, so it's not that crazy. I dunno, I'm just at a point in my life where anything over 10k is a lot of money; to combine say, "100k," and "Toyota" in the same sentence is I don't hear often. Hell--the body work on this car surpasses the going value of my car by a factor of 4...the turbo alone probably is worth more! :(

Start small I guess? I just look at all the money some people can spend on awesome projects like this, and hope I play my cards right so I can do similarly in the future...

Legally? Not that I am aware of, though I know some states are pretty slack about "grey-market" imports (such as Florida).

Why bother though? Other than cost savings, getting a LHD is definitely much nicer than a RHD. (Cost savings in Canada at least).

Well, the MKIV was quite popular in Japan, they are plentiful and hardtop, but they are all of course RHD, which isn't a big deal once you get used to it, but I'd still rather have LHD if cost savings aren't as much of a deal as they are in Canada.

Well, things have been moving along quite slowly as Jason is out of town frequently, and I am lazy. That being said, the glass, spoiler, bumper, tail lights and emblems are on the car, so at least it's something to see!

Sorry for the crappy pics. The car is now dusty and I forgot my camera AGAIN... so I had to use the cell. I will get it clean and remember to bring the camera one day.

No problem. Quick question, how rare is the Super Computer thing that came in the mk3? i might be buying an 88 turbo as a parts car and noticed one of those on the dash and had never seen one before

Semi-rare, but not extremely. You can find them for sale from time to time, and a few cars came with them... I dunno how to define their rarity other than that a lot of people seem to know someone who has had one at some point, haha.

Only USA cars had them also, so I haven't really seen many up here in Canada. I added one to the 88 though, for good measure.
