im concerned your alt will get hot

it probably will. but at the same time it will be in direct flow of the rad fan. i also dont have many other options in terms of placement, so maybe a heat sheild is in order? i'm actually thinking i will ditch this alt and get a 3.8l taurus one because i plan on running one of those fans since it is perfect dimensions of my new rad and pulls massive air. i'm just worried about depth.

Very cool build! You're a ways ahead of me but the same basic idea I have. I was thinkin of puttin 2 turbos in that same spot. Good to know that they don't fit. The other idea I was thinkin was to find a pair of CT12b's from the 4th gen Supras.

Also what is that radiator from?

lol yea its a tight fit in there. i have no idea.. its a craigslist special... guy bought it for his 280z with a 350 block on it and it was too big, so he was selling it cheap. fits perfect for me... itll take some grinding but not too much

got home early today so i was able to do some custom trans work. I still need to mount the slave cylinder. but so far it works like it should. excuse my redneck fab skillz lol, im just a young guy with a grinder :) on with the pics!

first pic shows the size difference of the w58 bellhousing and the 1uz.

Thats better. thanks to jacks adapter :)
DSC04749.JPG

first step to gettin the shift fork setup to work is to cut out the pivot from the stock w58 bell housing
DSC04754.JPG

pics how how the pivot mounts. I also shaved the pivot down because the adapter makes the pivot about 1/4" higher than it should. THis was fixed my grinding down the factory pivot location then rethreading it.

all that was left was to cut a hole in the side and viola! i will be installing a rubber boot on it when i'm done.

^no idea.. i dont plan on making that much more power than i was before. probably even less. so 300-350 rwhp. i know the w58's are good for around 300 rwhp and some people have used them up to 400rwhp. i guess it's all up to how you drive. no burnouts or dragging for me. i drive like a grandma around town lol.

really? i been running mine with 290rwhp 334tq for 2 years. used to daily it and its been thru 5 road races and 2 trips from NJ to canada. still shifts smooth and no weird issues...

btw do you know if all the w58s are the same all thru the different years?
