Just so you guys know I am bowing down for ROTY. I feel it is way too much controversy. I built my car the way I want it and not for events like this. If such an event came up I would enter...Anyway As Sean said, "To be the best you need to beat the best" Not to say I am but if you want to get better you need something to look at and to help strive for more.
I am not going to make a long story here but to say I wish all the best.

I went to a show a few years ago and an MKIV ALWAYS won and I thought that it wasn't fair but you know what?! I just strived to get better and then I finally beat him. He actually came over to me and said how nice the bay was on my car. I just thought I would throw that in and just tell a side of the story I feel should be told.

On to the next voting please. :biglaugh: Thanks for the PM's guys about my feelings but this is my final decision.

Oh! I forgot..I am going Motec :D That is all...

Your car has inspired me since the beginning, before I'd even met you. Since you won't stop climbing, I'll have to try and keep pace. Keep it up so I can keep trying to one up you even if its just for 3 months (2more hp :biglaugh: )

I wish you wouldn't have....cars like you built are what inspired me to build so clean....you deserve to run for ROTY! And I hope those that made you feel you had to bow out would feel shame for being that petty. I haven't been talking to you all that long to know your whole story, but I know what it takes to build something like that, and I dont mean money. I haven't spent any where NEAR the figures I've seen flying around and It's clean and quick. I have been around the forums the last few years to know how much you, Ron, Nate, etc. have put into that car AND the community and I think it's a shame....and that's coming from someone who would probably have lost to you! I know it's not a big deal to you, It's not to me either, but it's GAY....this is not SF!!!!

Duane, I hate to see you quit. It's almost like you let them win. The whiners and bitchers have got you to quit. I dont' know for a fact that you would have won, and I mean that in sincerity and not a jab. There are some great cars in the competition still, and I don't mean mine. I would have liked to seen a great competition without anybody getting their panties in a wad, but it didn't happen.................:3d_frown: You are a great guy, and hopefully next year it will go better. I cant' wait to see what you've got in store for next year also............nothing but love and respect for you..............lol

Just to step in am I the only one that doesnt like Duanes car?

Its an MKIII, it has a cage and a nice engine are about all I can say I like, Oh and its white. Other than that none of the custom work or his clean engine bay impress me too much.

I respect all the work hes put into it but its not my type of car.

It's a shame that it has gone down like this. I would like to see how it would have played out . You have built a Badd Ass MKIII Duane. I personally would not have voted for you (blasphemy) in a good match up against 4-5 of the other candidates, but that's just me. I don't like white Supras, because everybody has one. Yours may just be the nicest white Supra on the planet, and it is much more than just a high HP car. You have contributed to this community with motivation, knowlege, parts, and personality for a very long time. If you would have stayed in, I don't doubt that you would have won it.

edit*********** and now I'm going out to work on my white Supra for a while

Everyone has different taste, some people like ricey body shit, some prefer clean hot rod style engine bays, some people immaculate stock.

duane, i dont think you should. like i said, your car is sick! and it deserves to win.. however i think there should be other classes where some other guys get something.. because lets be realistic, your car will 95% win..

your car is one of the baddest, and should be awarded for the hard work you have put into it.. i dont think there is one mk3 guy who you havent inspired in some way.
please dont take me rant as disrespect, i was just stating how i felt and that maybe 3-4 differnt categorizes would be in order, so some other guys who work just as hard, but don't have a ton of money gets something..

Duane dont do this because a thread was made up about the contraversy of ROTY. Its not fair to your self and its not fair to th eother members. Cause like you said "to be the best, you have to beat the best" and lets face it, we know you and Ron are both up there. Do us all a favor and resubmit. These guys want competition.

He isn't the type of person to post a thread like this for attention and more compliments on his car, since it's totally not like he doesn't get enough or anything.
He's a good guy, and I know this, I've talked to him on several occasions.

If you have met him before, I retract all of that statement I just made :)

HOLY FUCK. I guess I clicked on the wrong thread. I thought I was going to learn about why Duane had to withdraw from the competition and possibly what/how the competiton should be caried out in the future. Then I get in here and more people are turning this damned forum into a Supraforums shit storm.

Idealsupra...you made your point...then you made it five more times. Wtf? That shit isnt necessary. Apparently you get attention other ways...like bitching in peoples threads.

In respect to ROTY I dont think there should be classes or anything else. It should be show what ya got...and hope you got enough. Just because someone has a Supra doesn't mean they should be deserving of an award and their car is no more real than anyone elses. I didn't even submit my car in for ROTM because I felt it wasnt worthy. When it is, I will gladly compete with Duane and all the other fine Supras...and happily get my ass kicked.

This is supposed to be fun. No one should be forced to feel that because they have a nice car...they cant compete. Sometimes this place makes me sick.:3d_frown:

Good God, people. It's a fun competition, hosted by the mods as a favor they don't have to do in the first place. WTF is wrong with some people here? You raise a pointless stink, somebody who has a legitimate chance of winning bows out to avoid the controversy, and you slam him? Grow up.

Let the competition roll out as designed, and recognize it's the first go. When it's done suggest improvements for next year. Don't get personal and stupid. Is this a difficult concept, or are a bunch of you in need of some kind of grow up serum? Keep this shit up and we won't see the same thing next year. :3d_frown:
