bottlenecking?

Hi there.I bought a 3" divorced downpipe and one of my buddies said i am gonna mess up my turbo sense i have a stock back exhaust which is gonna bottleneck neck the turbo.Now i was wondering would i be fine if i run stock boost with a 3" apexi muffler?thanks

Running a larger downpipe with a stock exhaust is going to hurt your car no more than running a full stock exhaust.

WTF? Tell your buddy to go back to peeling potatoes for a living, and leave wrenching to the professionals.

How exactly does he think this is going to make the system any worse than it was stock? Sure, you won't get all the benefits you could see if you did the downpipe and the exhaust at the same time, but you're certainly not going to do any damage.

He didn't mean it would hurt the car badly but he said the turbo could be damaged.Hvyman yes i will finish it but i don't have any funds to do that any time soon.I am a poor college student that loves his supra's lol.So whats the verdict bolt down the downpipe or wait and get the turbo back exhaust so i don't hurt the turbo(if any)?thanks for your input's guys

Yeah I know it sounded fishy.Oh one last thing the previous owner had sent the car to get a new head gasket now everything is great with the car but i was wondering if i dont increase the boost i should never have to deal with a BHG right(if done correctly)? thanks again guys great info

If done correctly....but odds are it wasn't...you'll find out in sure in about a month or two.

7 months have passed and in those 7 months i have driven the car some what hard at times so should i be ok?
