+1 on that. I also ditched the cats in the back of mine and it made it even more powerful. Just make sure you know someone that can pass your inspection through w/o yelling about missing environmental equipment (IF you cut the cats off!!!).
It literally woke my turbo up. It wasn't really sluggish before, but now it's like driving a whole new car. :evil2:
I've always said, there are only 2 reasons not to run a cat:
- You run leaded race gas
- You're a cheap ass
High flow cats have been dyno proven to be within a couple HP of not running them. Keep in mind that's within the resolution of the dyno so more than likely there isn't a difference.
They clean up the air at no power cost, so they're not a bad thing by any means.

sorry just a real quick question
i dont know much about turbos, im getting a 7mgte motor and swappin it soon
so im just curious, ignoring how loud it is and how illegal it is, will running open downpipe give you more performance or is it better to have a free flowing 3" exhaust all the way back?
Open downpipe sounds like crap, attracts cops, and you run the risk of lighting the rubberized undercoating on fire. Not to mention the exhaust getting into the cabin.
I dunno, my car felt about the same with and without my 3" exhaust so I'd definately run the exhaust (and do).
