Yep as I said never had an issue here keeping to spec, Mains always looked fine after I quit going by the conventional 7M builders collective wisdom and went back to my roots and opened up the clearences.

Well I love all of the responses, what I hate though is when long time respectable members disagree...

So do I just go with ARP head and rod, drop the idea of the mains? It would save almost $200, if it is really a waste. But if I do swap them for ARPs sounds like it would not be a bad idea to line hone, but debate ably not absolutely necessary... Clear as mud...

So speaking of tuning, does anyone have a recommendation for someone in the Portland or Seattle area that could assist?

Your motor may need a line hone or bore even if stock hardware is used. Only your machinist will be able to tell you after he inspects the block. In most cases when using aftermarket bearings, I find that I will want to line bore the mains to make the bore all one size rather than the multi size crooked holes that toyota gives you. For a near stock (under 450 hp) build, I do not think arp mains will do anything for you. I however, do install them in every motor I do just because that is just me.

"inspection" is key, no use line boring a straight block that has equal size holes, I'm with Rich on the ARP's I figure what's better fresh ARP hardware or 20 year old Toyota bolts.....

My last build was on a brand new block but as I had a new set of ARP studs here they went in.

Thanks guys for your additional input, I will swing by and chat with Vic (Machinist) adn see what he found during inspection. But with all the other money going into this car, no sense in taking a short cut that saves a little, but not a lot, I guess for that matter don't want to take any shortcuts if it means less reliability and longevity.

Thanks again - the input from the many experienced posters is always greatly appreciated.
