I had my doubts coming into this thread, but I think it's gonna look pretty nice. You look like you have a pretty good handle on what you are doing. I love a 5-spoke wheel, and especially like the dollar bill on the lip. But, I'm not really liking the 12" wide 10-speed tires.

You are right...it's your car, and to each his own. Don't listen to the haters.......there will be some. Sometimes if you don't follow the masses, you're gonna get flamed. But, the masses get there from experience, so it's not all bad.

Post pictures along the way. And, What part of Florida are you in?

Could you please elaborate on your comments? Wrong offset for a stock body MKIII, or wrong offset for the widebody that I am working on at this time? Normally I could understand the staggered fitment on a FWD getting hatred for "wrong offsets"...but once again, please elaborate rather then just an empty opinion with no substance behind it
Okay, if I were going to go to the extent of doing a wide body (which I never would) I would maximize the space I'm making in the wheel well by using super wide wheels with a more "normal" supra offset (not like a +45, but closer to that then -12 or whatever you have there). Instead of more "normal" sized wheels that are simply pushed way out.

that will be incredibly nice once its done if it turns out good. What are you going to do about the spoiler not being wide enough now? Or the rear bumper? And side mouldings? please modify the tails to still be within an inch of the side, a huge 6 inch gap on each die might look odd. Also what color are you planning on going?

Mad Props to you for doin something diff on a MkIII.
IMHO I don't really like the wheels being that wide, but if you like it, who gives a shit what I think :p

But, please do get some decent sized tires on there, that throws off the whole look. IMO the stretched look just looks like you can't afford the right size tire lol.

But the body work looks like its gonna be well done, keep it up, and keep the pix coming! And you'll be finished in November? What the hell? I wanna see finished pics by Friday-Got it?!?!

GL, later.

1J in there would be cool. id almost rather just import a 1J 5 speed soarer though and go VIP style with the V8 sc400. whatever he does with it its gonan be pretty nice.

on topic: its nice to see some innovation with regards to the body work on the mk3. i always am one to complain about how limited the market and community is with regards to body work. I just dont think i personally like where this project is going.

id love to be proved wrong when it is all done, and i look forward to seeing the project completed. in the end it is your car and do what makes you happy.

I would agree with the comment that you want to widen the car that much, it better be to stick some HUGE tires into it. :)

I think that a -25mm offset is just silly. With a 12" wide wheel on the MKIII, a 0 offset would allow the tire to fit right back in against the suspension (or, -5mm at MOST). That would still look very similar to what you have now, and would maximize the area inside the wheel well. Of course, this is the practical side of me talking, not the "for show" side. I understand that these wheels were cheap, and you didn't exactly have a choice (and <2k is a great price), it's just not me. I think the dished 5 spoke still looks sexy though. I say paint the hub to match the car, and keep the polished lip (again, my opinion).

I honestly don't mind the stretched tire look on SOME vehicles (like little VWs), but on a Supra, it does not work. IMO, the supra looks better with some MASSIVE treads. throw some 325s on the back or something, and that would look bad-ass. Of course, tire choice comes after you finish up all that fiberglassing. Keep it up, it's looking good.

Good luck with turning those front wheels :)

BTW, when I first saw that side panel, I thought it was off of an old trans-am or something. haha.

I have to agree with some of these peeps, those rims don't look right. The lip is way too deep for my taste. 2" or 3" ok, but not 6". You should look into something possibly wider as far as tires go for the rear than 285. I think that even with a 285, those tires will still look stretched some. Maybe a 295 or even 305? That's just me though. As they say, to each his own.

Not bad work on the body though. It's always nice to see someone doing something radical with the body to spice things up. Good luck and I hope it turns out well for you. I look forward to seeing the end result.

Filipino is correct! yeah i'm j-ville. i might know some of them it's a small world yunno!!

Well i'm sure i've talked about the tires going wider already. i didn't get any work done on it this past weekend. Too many projects going on right now. I'm sure i'll be able to do something soon though. sorry to you guys waiting! it's sucks when i can only work on it atleast 1 day a week.

here is the pic of the motor. i haven't done much with it. JDM 7m-gte swap, 2.5" turbo piping, FMIC, GreddyBOV, 3"Down pipe...There are a few thing i will be sending off to get polished as you can tell.

Keep on keeping on man. I think your project is freaking awesome and it's AWESOME to finally see some variety in the community. I like the look of the Supra, but to be honest, I get sick of seeing the same thing done over and over and over.

Haha, the stretched tires are...special...but I'm loving those rims man. Keep us updated, and press on despite what the haters are sayin
