I have given my input already, so I will ask the question that has yet to be asked.
How in the HELL did you blow up your 1J??????

It's really not that hard to do.
no... its pretty hard, and i did it. it took A LOT to blow that motor. ask any of my local supra buddies, that motor has been beat on since i've had it, which has been 3 1/2 years, daily driven and pushed to its limits. looking back in hindsight, i can tell you how and why it blew, and had i known better, i could have prevented it.
it was 4 in the morning and a friend and i were on our way home after a long night, the freeway was empty, long and straight, and 6 lanes wide, newly paved (the freeways are a dream in phoenix). i had just swapped out my rear end a month prior to a 4.30 lsd and wanted to see what the car would top out at with the new gears... (first mistake). so i drop it to 4th, pull from 75 to about 120, put it in fifth and continue to let it pull as long as it could. as the rpms got higher (maybe around 6k) i noticed it start to feel like it was pulling less hard. it was still pulling, just not as much. at this point i believe it began detonating. water temp and oil press were solid, but i didnt know any better and stayed on it. we got to around 155-160 (~6500rpm) and then all of a sudden it started smoking HEAVILY out the back. way worse than either time i blew one of the twins. immediately i went into neutral and coasted at idle to my exit (less than a half mile, and at that speed only took a few (10) seconds to get off the freeway. i thought uh oh, did i just blow another turbo? we drove another 1/4 mile to a grocery store parking lot and shut it off. popped the hood, and there was oil all over everything. i walked another half mile home, and drove my brother's car back to the parking lot and took my buddy home to wait til the next day to really look at it.
the next day i pulled the plugs, and the one to #5 was busted. we put new plugs in and started it up. you can hear it missing, feel air being pushed out of the oil cap, and it smokes like a mother. that piston is cracked. and i was only running 12 lbs of boost on stock twins. but i believe it was a weak fuel pump that caused it to lean out. i'll post a video of the day after in a minute
