Bad turbo? or good ol' rod-knock?

Ok, so upon further investigation I have a BHG and there is coolant in my oil . There appears to be a leak on the exhaust side as well. Anyway, I am wondering If I change the HG and flush all of the coolant/oil mixture from the engine is there a chance my rodknock will go away since it is very slight. Or do I just need to do a total rebuild? And I got the car to start I don't know why it wouldn't before but the flywheel and everything is tight.

Water in the oil most likely hit a bearing and caused the knock. It won't fix itself, but a slight knock isn't the end of the world. Decide what to do based on your budget but you should probably just pull the motor and see what kind of condition its in. You need to fix the HG anyway, so you can check the bottom end out while the motor is out and do 2 jobs at once.

Also anyone who drives with knock, keep in mind those metal shavings can find their way to other engine bearings and even into the turbo, make sure that's a risk your willing to take.

Yep, You'd only have to buy 1 in a life time...

Yes it would be sweet if they could just "self heal" perhaps I can try pouring in some Robitussinas an oil additive.

But ............it makes total sense that having the coolant in there is the reason why I got rod knock.

Wrong!

Early on in a Rod Knock motor when RPM increases so does Oil pressure and the knock goes away........ for awhile!

How do you fix an early/minor Rod knock if possible??

Kinda new to this hole Knock issue, so is it the bearing in the rod itself that comes lose or ..........?

What do you need in a repair.........rods - bearings - machinework.....??
Ive search but only found treads were people a trying to confirm knock
