Ok, so a few weeks ago I bought one of those auto shift controllers from awshifting.com. I was a little skeptical at first...but now that Ive got it fully installed it works great with very little delay if none at all. Wiring was really easy...none of it took that long hooks up in the ECT ECU area. I ended up paying around $150 for everything I used to install it: the controller, 4 LEDs to show you what gear your in, 2 on/off switches..one to turn on the controller from normal auto to manual, the other for the torque converter lock, and 2 momentary switches for upshift and downshift. Here are some pics of how everything looks that Im done....(I know everythings dusty, I put armor all on a few days ago and now dust is sticking to it)
started with plexi-glass and epoxy for the led's

then bondo'd it to the steeringwheel shroud

Finished

Made a panel under the radio deck to put the switches, and mounted the shift buttons where I would reach them easy

what do you guys think?

thanks:icon_bigg , yea you just put it in D and use the buttons to shift you can also turn it off and just drive it like a normal auto. when its in "manual" you can still put it in Reverse or park like normal the only thing the controller is doing is over riding the ECU decision to shift and lets you do it.

cool...not bad for $150. I might look into something like this...
The cost varys depending on how you install it, that was how much I spent for the bondo and the whole 9 yards, if you email brett at AWshifting.com he answers all your questions and is very helpful...I even talked to him on the phone a couple of times..since I was the first one to ever order one for a supra from him

Very nice install with the display on the column...

Does the computer have any sort of idiot protection (keep you from going into 1st at 70mph)?
No it doesn't, Its basicly like a stick...you wouldnt want to downshift in a low gear at highway speeds

yeah, id think that a paddle setup would be better (keeping hands closer to the wheel while shifting)

Thats an awesome idea!
he had the paddles, but I didnt want to spend that much money..plus where I mounted to buttons its where my arm normally lays anyways when Im driving so its right beneath my fingers, but I would rather have the paddles if money wasnt a factor

Does this just turn it into a manual shift?
Can you turn it off an go back to auto?
What about converter lock-up...any control over that?

BTW - Nice install...looks very professional ;)

thanks jdub,:icon_bigg yes it just turns it into a manual shift, and you can turn it back into a normal auto by fliping the switch on and off. you can also control the torque conveter with the flip of a switch.
