Very cool!

It seems kind of funny that the 1st thing people thought of was their eyes... this thing looks like it could easily do damage to any part of you. How about your clothes on fire? LOL

UPDATE: You don't necessarily have to get that specific laser casing, I wont know for sure but I think one out of a cheap key chain laser pointer will work as well. I picked one up for something like four dollars at Office Max. My DVD burner randomly had two diodes, but it is an 18x so maybe that has something to do with it. Not quite done, but all that's left is installing the diode in the mag light. I was too shaky to solder Friday and didn't work on it yesterday so hopefully today will be the day

I think this might replace the super soaker flame thrower as my favorite "guaranteed to physically alter atleast one idiot that tries it" video on the internet.

quin - i got a 16x burner and had two diodes in it, i think its something to do with a double layer writer...? anyway, im killing time before i order me a laser casing or pick up a laser pointer.

and come on, with a little common sense its not going to be dangerous. just like firearms.

I figured out the two diode thing and now I feel like a moron. One is for reading one is for writing. lol

Tomorrow night I plan on finishing the laser

careful, some people need around a 4 ohm resistor to make it work right. they'd burned out their diodes in a few seconds without

wow i wasnt sure but i didnt think this thread would take off so well. cool to see someone is trying it. i have no doubts that correctly configured it will work perfect.

i do think it should be put in something other than a flashlight body though. in fact maybe mounting it inside a bb-handgun would bee a good idea. obviously something you dont point at your face or other people unless you're a dumb shit so that would eliminate the risks of it being more dangerous than a low-power weapon hidden in a flashlight....

if some little kid picked it up or even an adult...clicks it on while looking at the light emitting side to see if it's got sufficient charge and BAM.

nobody checks handguns like that so it would be safer IMO.

just be careful guys.
