turbo auto 4 life!!!!!!! woot! im glad somebody made a thread like this,

in terms of kills ive made nothing outrageously exciting, the usual civics, integras, 240sx's, a mustang GT, a souped up truck, etc etc. im looking forward to my BPU 1jz auto swap happening sometime in late spring. but right now im just mildly upgraded. brake boosting is fun, so is controlling the ECT and o/d at the right time, so is throttle control, it makes for some good fun. its proof that a clutch and stick shift arent required to have a blast. people have asked me why i dont do a 5 speed swap, i tell them, it just wouldnt seem right in this car, ive had nothing but good times with it and its ran pretty well.

what i dont like is the constant dogging of the auto as being zero fun and this ideal that it would be so much faster if it was a 5 speed. there are tonnes of mark 4s out there with automatics that are quite fast and very fun, it just makes no sense why some people out there would think a mk3 would be that much different.

turbo auto is fun, there a couple key differences that make a turbo auto much different then an n/a auto, i think some shift jockeys constantly confuse the two.

I have an Auto...somehow, throughout all the mods, is still holding up. The only time I've found it to be a struggle is at the top of 1st gear just bouncing, which requires my heavy foot to back off...but after that, its awesome.
Beat an STI from about 40 to probably 65(not much because of a nearby cop)
Played with some Hondas, a Mustang GT, RX8(terribly slow), and my all time favorite, a 97 vette...(earliest body style that is "rounded, not sure on exact year), but it was from about 80 and I braked around 120...the tranny was there and surprisingly grabbed all 13 psi...felt so good to pull on a nice shinny red Vette. Older guy to so he had a very dumbfounded look on his face after I slowed down and he passed me. Thats all for now :(

ive got a mustang , alot of civics and usual cars
the other night raced and srt4. he gave me 4 cars and leave and i won by 1 car. shut down at 120.

nice. I think "just about" every Supra owner has messed with or raced an SRT-4...they are just too cute. Lol, Turbo....but STILL a Neon.

yeah. i would kick his ass of the line but when he hit 2cnd wam he was out.
im still excited even though he gaev me some cars and had double the boost

my auto isnt liking the 60-1 @ 17lbs. Right now its holding shifts, its slipping like a mutha fuck.

Not to mention ive got failing piston rings and a case of Rod Knock LOL.
But the fucker pulls hard to 17lbs and loses the rear end around a corner.

The auto has become so bad i cant even smoke the tires by doing a brakestand anymore. It just slips lol

good choice, for the money of doing a built a340e its not really worth it. If you want to stick to an auto trans go w/ TH350 or TH400 Auto Trans out of a Domestic vehicle. From what i hear their very durable and sturdy and not that expensive to rebuild.

I already have everything needed to do my 5spd swap. Including ECU and new harness. With a barely used ACT Spec 1 Clutch.

On a stock CT your auto will hold 9psi quite fine, but when you get into bigger numbers it wont handle the abuse much.

yeah well i have no idea how im getting 9psi in 1st and then when it hits 2cnd it spiked to 11 then dropps and holds 9:) i aint complaining though

its boost spike, very common on 3" exhaust systems. Ill spike at 20psi off the line if im not careful.

Im also getting something weird, if im in boost and shift to 4th gear boost will go from 17psi~ to 0-5psi and slowly build back to 17psi. dunno why :(

hmmm thats strange
actually when i drive my car it will be at 7psi but the longer i drive ill just keep getting boost
like yesterday left the house at 7spi by the time i got home after cruising racing all day and such i would pull the 11?
i dunno i love these cars:)

Misinformation is bad!

if you firm up the shifts using the shim method and run a decent trans cooler the auto will easy outlast an R154!

My auto in the black supra only had a big trans cooler and is still going after two years of abuse at 150+ rwkw

I have to agree Allan, the A340e is a very strong tranny, it will need some upgrading to handle power, but so do the r154's, but is easily able to handle the power, just keep it cool, and if you want to launch better, get a higher stall torque converter and Differential to par, these trannies have alot of potential
