Ok, having a problem here, the trans linkage in my supra is not wanting to cooperate... For some reason no matter what way we move it wont adjust right, I have every gear showing up except "L" (first gear) it just wont go below 2nd gear down to first no matter what way we move the linkage and we cannot figure out why.

is there any tips or tricks to doing this?

We have not cranked the car to specify what gear it is in officialy since we changed the linkage again. But so far everything looks good the gap between park and reverse is dead on, (we had trouble getting this like it is) everything looks good expcet that L.

Opions? pics? Anything you have will help.. thanks.

Did you forget to disconnect it before you started to pull the motor and tranny? I did that once on a parts car. Any chance your linkage is bent?

I had a similar issue before my swap.. I had to replace that grommet on the linkage. The old one was worn and there wasn't enough leverage to push it into 1st..

I had the EXACT same problem...my linkage was bent a TINY bit and we ended up having to bend the living hell out of it to make it work. In all honest, the linkage doesn't need to be exactly how it was before now; as long as the linkage can get you into all gears, bend it however you need to. :)
