Turbo Autos can/tend to be faster or just as fast as MT Turbos, but on the NA side, it's a bit different I think....because the Auto NAs don't produce any advantages (like brake boosting/keeping boost in shifts), they just lose more power through drivetrain loss. It might also have to do with the stall? *Shrugs*

more of a powertrain loss with an Auto becuase it eats up more power doing it all for you, if you dynoed the same car with the same upgrades the Manual would come out on top...

ya... 1-2-3-OD .... when I get my tranny built later this year or sometime next, I'm going to see what I can do about making an OD gear that runs about 2800 rpms at 85mph (my ideal hwy cruising speed).

There are 4 speeds with the A340E, not 4 gears. 3rd is not a gear, the input and output shaft are locked together, creating a 1:1 ratio.

The auto loses on the dyno due to it puts less load on the engine with torque converter slippage, also causing a loss of fuel efficency. Planetary gearset for the WIN.

Manuals kill autos on courses.

And autos kill manuals on drags!

Reason why autos are faster than manuals in SOME situations is because when the turbo starts spooling, you won't lose boost when the tranny shifts.

As opposed to the manuals losing boost and having to spool the turbo again on an upshift.

If some of you n00bs out there will take care of your a340e transmission and "baby" it...You will soon find out that it is the best thing next to sliced bread. :)

After I recently put in a new Transmission(non-rebuilt), I got a B&M Tranny Cooler...Ran the lines, and for the last 3-4 months or so, it has been a dream.
90% of Transmission Failures are a result of overheating. Let it chill! ;)
I understand that mine is not a "built" transmission (which is what I am shooting for in the near future), but words can't stress to you how nice it is to build up boost off the line, launch and already be boosting.....ahhh....I love it. :)
