i swear, i was cleaning my garage and i dropped one half a foot and it cracked in 2! So what exactly do these do? i would understand that they weren't doing much considering how brittle this one was.... so story short, are these needed?

I ran without mine for a year before I realized my other supra had them.

So I guess theyre not needed.
So why did toyota put them on there then? FOR LOOKS? Just because you dont care if your car brakes other people do so dont be telling other people Bad advise. Yes they are needed. They support the transmission to keep from breaking the bell housing.

What is with this forum and people getting so ass hurt over the smallest shit?

From my experience it doesnt seem like a vital part. Ive pushed my car hard in just about every type of driving I can and havent once had my bellhousing break without these supports.

If you have them sure put them on, if you dont want them, take them off.
You'll probally never notice a dfiiference.

Drop your block, and you can crack it too. Does that make your engine block shitty?

LOL, it's cast iron. Cast iron does not like to flex, and when you dropped it, the force applied caused it to try and flex, and it cracked.

When they are bolted to the block and transmisison, they make both stronger.

Yes they are needed, and no, I'm not butt hurt, and really don't give a damn about who, has, or has not used them.

(BTW< mine are powdercoated candy apple red, so are they better? LOL)

Cliff notes version.

Anything made from cast iron that you drop onto a hard surface might crack. Especially cast iron parts like braces, brackets, suspension arms, knuckles and other long, thin cast iron parts.

Does it make them weak, or not needed?

LOL, good luck on your "knuckleless" suspension.. you know they crack if you drop them on the floor... so you must not need them.

I am not ass hurt but you should give solid advise or none at all.
And i dont care what you do to your car that is your car but if someone want the right answer than lets give it to them.

The manifold has more mass to it and it's tube structure so of course it will take more force to break but it will break on impact.....

I really hope you're NOT calling me a nut swinger....

It's one of 2 brackets that bolt from the side of the block to the bellhousing.

If you honestly think you don't need them, then I pray you never put serious power down to the ground.
