I don't think my car came with them. Could someone post a link to a picture or the part number in the tsrm, I can't find it.

while we're on the subject, sure push 400+ horsepower through a transmission that's held to your block with JUST FOUR BOLTS! how many foot pounds of torque is it going to take to break them. i suppose we'll find out soon enough. great idea. i'll certainly take the extra 3lbs they weigh to stop my transmission from ripping itself from my motor and killing the person behind me on the freeway.
think of it this way- grab a pencil. hold it in both hands. now snap it in half. easy, right?
now take another pencil and it end to end in each hand with your palms. push them together. not so easy to break, is it? nope.
now take that unbroken pencil and try to twist it in half. easy? sure isnt.

From experience: They're not needed. Maybe Toyota put them on as a precaution just to be safe? The cars certainly were'nt making the power to do it coming out of the factory.

I have the auto ones in mine and has less bolts but I have ARP bolts which are minimum 170,000 PSI strength as I spoke to them on the phone (this is the minimum strength they make for this particular grade)
Break? I have driven my car to the track for years (650RWTQ last year) and over 700RWTQ this year and so far so good. Not to say they won't break but if they were to, they would have by now.
All in all, I am planning to change them but haven't yet.

Yes, there is a reason most new engines have full circle mounting at the transmission flange these days. Ever notice the JZ motors do this?
TOMA70E - You're wrong...these braces are torsonional stiffeners like IJ said and for the reasons Shaeff posted. Sorry, but your experience does not trump the reason the Toyota engineers put these on the motor. Run without them if you like, but if you post it's ok to do so, expect the same comments.
