actually nobody in america owns an "fc" or "fd"

they are rx-7s here...
If anyone hasn't said it, you are wrong. FD3S is the chassis code of the last RX-7. So everyone in america with an RX-7 has an FB, FC, or FD.

Hey, on the shift buzzer thing I'm not totally sure but it seems like I heard it was on the FD's (sorry Lanky, deal. lol). Per my source it was a redline buzzer beacuse the engine was supposedly so smooth all the way thru redline if you weren't paying attention and had the radio on or something you could just run redline and blow the motor, so it was to keep people from doing that. Of course it also seemed like someone told me the FD's had and 11k redline which sounds waaaaay to high for a production car, so all of what I said could be totally off.

no joe..my point is that they own an rx-7. thats what the car is called...an rx7, using the chassis code to identify cars is just another way for posers to read a magazine and pretend they know more than anybody else because they can use initials and numbers rather than say "Accord" "Rx7" "Civic" etc..

i dislike strongly that jdm whizzbang dorifto mad tyte poser posse mentality...

i violently revolt against it whenever possible.

in facts you are right joe..and I'm not going to argue or get upset with you becuase i know you understand what i mean. IMO those abbreviations are simply a false front used by people to seem smarter than they are.

no thats not what they are used for, they simply are easy definitions of which gen rx7 there is. its the same thing like our mark 2/3/4 bit, just with letters instead of using numbers.
We own MA61's or MA71's so just like i said before, just because one is right, it doesn't make the other one wrong.

Well, If I go about telling people what my daily driver is...I can say it's a Toyota Corolla (cause that's it's name). However, I feel better and get more knowing respect when I tell people that I drive an AE86 Corolla (note the clever use of BOTH the Chassis Code AND the Name. ;) ) If I'm feeling particularly jaunty, I'll call it my "AE86 Corolla GT-S Rear Wheel Drive" :p

On the subject of Rotary engines and F_ RX-7's. I think they are really neat engines. I'm just kinda taken aback by how in-efficient they are. I mean, I know Sports Cars are not supposed to be efficient but 10-15 MPG out of a 1._ liter engine!?! Not only that but I am weary of anything that is designed to USE oil like that...kinda counter intuitive. Not a problem for you and I, I'm sure, but the average consumer just isn't as maintainance minded as we might be. Oh, and don't get me started on the lack of torque...:D Other than that...RX-7's RULE!!!!

I hardly consider it 'jdm whizzbang' or posing. everyone's entitled to their own opinion though of course.

Yeah...they are nice looking cars. I like the more muscular look of the MkIII Supra. I CAN however respect the RX-7s styling. I like the "Kinda Off Center" Hood Scoop on the Turbo Models. I also like the idea of the nearly limitless rev range and the balance that is offered by having a small rotary set back in the engine compartment (Front Midship). I also think the V shaped Radiator and Intercooler setup is cool...too bad we don't have enough space in OUR engine comparments to have a setup like that!!!

3 rotor motors are rare in the US...so rare..you'll most likely never see a car with one..let alone actually the see the motor.

i have a firiend with an n/a 3 rotor and another friend is instaling a tt 3 rotor soon.

apex seels= rebuild. coolant seels(like a head gasket)= rebuild.

i'm not positive on the typical longevity of an fc, maintained well (as this one sounds like it has been) an n/a will last a very long time.

if for some reason you swaped in a 13b-rew, you can expect 70k miles on one rebuild.

i'd say buy it if the price is right. (and if you don't, i might :evil2: )

this motor should last you a long time, as long as you don't go all "drifftooooo!" maniac.

as for the mpg, at least it's not a poorly tuned FD. alex (a friend of mine) drove his to work for a week an got 8, yes 8mpg.
